INDEPENDENT RECORD LABEL founded by Andy Turner (Aim), Nicole Vergel de Dios (Niko) and Iain Cooke
Fiercely independent and born out of the love of quality music, ATIC Records was created in 2005 by Andy ‘Aim’ Turner, Nicole ‘Niko’ Vergel de Dios and Ian ‘Cookie’ Cooke. ATIC Records is based in the small north-west coastal town of Barrow-in-Furness, England. It’s first seminal release was Aim’s ‘Flight 602’ album and since then the label has released critically acclaimed work by Niko, Death of
the Nieghbourhood (Stephen Jones aka Babybird), The Witch And The Robot, Gripper and Crowhead. ATIC also re-issued Aim’s first three albums ‘Cold Water Music’, ‘Hinterland’ and ‘Means Of Production’and Niko’s debut ‘Life On Earth’. The label quickly established itself after a worldwide Aim tour and began a wave of new releases such as Niko’s LP ‘Hate & Love’ and Aim’s ‘Drum Machines and VHS Dreams’. We love creating and putting out new music and enjoy the whole process from writing the songs, recording and mixing in our own ‘Speed Limit Studios’, right through to manufacturing, promoting, touring, licensing, and hand packing our vinyl that you order through our shop. To celebrate the digital release of Hinterland (Remastered) Aim has reworked album stand-out No Restriction. Featuring west coast rap legends Souls of Mischief Aim’s remix sees the jazzy original transformed into an epic, synth soaked banger that propels the already incredible vocals into the stratosphere! Aim recalls watching Souls of Mischief at work, “they came to the studio in Manchester for the afternoon and I played them a few beats I had ready for the session. They picked the one they liked, got their pads and pens out and within a few hours they’d written the track, gone into the booth and recorded it in one take. I was blown away.”

Hinterland, the critically acclaimed follow up to Aim’s classic, genre defining debut Cold Water Music, proved that the notoriously difficult ‘second album’ could not only equal its predecessor but surpass it. Featuring intricate instrumentals and guest spots from the likes of Diamond D, Souls of Mischief and Stephen Jones, Hinterland is an understated masterpiece that seamlessly combines crisp hip-hop beats and up-tempo grooves with Aim’s bucolic aesthetic and ever-present sense of blissful melancholy. More than twenty years on from its original 2002 release, ATIC Records presents the definitive Hinterland vinyl reissue. Fully remastered from the original DAT master tapes with all-new artwork, the 2 x 12” double album is presented on 140g classic black vinyl in matt black poly-lined inner sleeves and a shrink-wrapped, gloss laminated, heavy card outer sleeve.
Aim & Niko will appear live on stage at Another Fine Fest on Saturday June 17th at 8:40 at The Melodrome Stage at the heart of the festival in Ulverston town.
