A tribute to South African legendary jazz musicians.
In this visionary tribute exhibition, the visual storyteller Siphiwe Mhlambi takes a bold and crucial stance in paying tribute to South African jazz legends who paved the way for the modern SA jazz scene.
His images reveal how he, too, is possessed of the spirit of jazz and draws his audience into the life of the musician’s soul fire and into the music itself. His sensibility and unique eye intuitively connect with that of his subjects.
The photographs immediately become a custodian of the imagination and mirror of the individual artist's soul. The aim is to recognize and celebrate the past and living heroes/heroines of South African Jazz through photography as an art form and bring into focus the extreme importance of history, heritage, and spiritual insight.
