Good morning family and friends. Well, another morning walk is completed and it was great to have my best friend join me for part of my walk this morning. It is forecasted to be another very warm day today in CBS. As I was walking this morning I thought about the “Peace of God.” I honestly do not know what I would do without the peace of God in my life. There are so many people around today searching for something to bring peace and calmness to their lives. The writer in Philippians 4:6-7 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Prayer. Paul teaches the Philippians that “When we pray, God turns anxiety into peace.” Some will say that’s easy to say but hard to practice. I know that; Paul also knew that. Don’t forget that Paul wrote these words from prison. Paul knew suffering. He knew heartache. He knew anxiety. And, he knew prayer. “Do not be anxious about anything.” That’s a tall order, isn’t it? It was a tall order for Jesus—The night of his betrayal, he said, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death” (Matt 26:38); What Paul is doing here is drawing a contrast between anxiety and prayer. What he means is, “Instead of worry and anxiety, pray.” What does Jesus do immediately after telling the disciples how anxious he is? He prays. Jesus provides a great example of how to handle anxiety. Instead of worrying, “in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” We can pray about anything. Some time ago, someone asked the church to pray for their dog. Some people chuckled at the request; they thought it was humorous that someone would actually ask for prayer over such a trivial thing. Prayer, you see, they thought should be reserved for “more serious, big” things in life. A dog just didn’t rank high enough on the list to merit prayer. However, when I remembered Paul’s words here, I had to rethink my attitude. God says that “in every situation” I should come to him in prayer. Though it might not have seemed significant to us, it certainly was to that person. You also know the words of Peter: “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” (1 Pet 5:7). I serve a God who is big enough to help in those “big” areas of life and a God who cares enough to help in those “little” areas of life. No matter the problem, no matter the odds, no matter how I feel, I can go to the throne of God with my worries. “By prayer and petition”—The Greek word “prayer” refers to prayer generally, and “petition” means “supplication,” the asking for a specific need. In other words, we approach the throne of God and tell him what we need. “Present your requests to God”. Take what you need before the throne of God. Yes, he already knows (Matt 6:8), yet taking our requests to God shows humility and submits our will to his will. verse 7: “The peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” I read this text many times, and I believed I had to understand every word in every text. I spent a lot of time trying to explain this peace of God. A lightbulb finally went off. This is the peace of God “which transcends all understanding.” This is a peace which can’t be explained. While it cannot be explained, this peace is real for the people of God. John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid”. John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world”. Paul tells us that if we wish to have that peace, we must take our concerns to God in prayer. “When we pray, God turns anxiety into peace.” What a glorious thought! No matter my worry, no matter what’s taking place in my life, if I turn to God in prayer, he will grant me peace that no one can explain. It’s that same peace you can have through prayer! Do you know that peace? I challenge you to Get Up! Get Out & Get Going! Speaking of peace: Have you made peace with God through Jesus Christ? “Since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Rom 5:1). Do you need to come and make him your Lord that you might be at peace with God? HAVE A FAITH-FILLED FRIDAY!

Good Monday morning family and friends. I trust you are all doing well on this Labour Day! I have finished my morning walk and is it ever warm outside. Well, today is the last day of the long weekend before students, teachers and support staff head back to school. As a teacher, I always looked forward to this time of year with new beginnings. There was always a certain level of excitement in the air. It was a fresh start for everyone involved. I would always tell my students it was an opportunity to put the past behind them and begin with their very best effort towards greatness. I would always remind them they were individually unique and I wanted to support every one of them in discovering what their uniquness was. For some it took longer that others, but by the end of the school year they each knew how important and great they were. This is what I still miss the most about teaching. My students didn't remember everything I said to them throughout the school year, but they always remember how I made them feel. A great lesson here for all of us all. I encourage you to GET UP! GET OUT! GET GOING! Remember you are placed on this earth for a specific purpose, go find it and be the best you can be, both to yourself and to others. HAVE A MARVELOUS MONDAY!

Good Friday morning family and friends. My morning walk is complete, the sun is shining beautifully, and I am feeling blessed to wake up this morning. What better can a person ask for on this glorious morning. Well, this is the last weekend before students, teachers and support staff head back to school for another year of adventure and learning. This time of year brings lots of great memories and I feel somewhat lonely because I always enjoyed the excitement of beginning a new school year. As I reflect upon this past summer I feel so fortunate to have had such a great time with family, friends, and the new people I met along the way. The beautiful weather was certainly a huge blessing. It is so important to feel happy and content within yourself because it makes all of your encounters with others so much more enjoyable. We must get up every morning and be determined to have faith, to dance, smile, laugh, trust, hope, love, and believe in ourselves and others. Most of all, enjoy every moment of the journey, and appreciate where you are at this moment instead of always focusing on how far you have to go. Every second you spend looking at how huge the task ahead is, or doubting yourself, is a wasted moment of your life that you will never get back. You will become what you believe you are. If you continue to tell yourself that you cannot do something then eventually you will become incapable of doing it. However, if you have faith and believe enough in yourself that you can do it, then you will gain the ability to accomplish it even if you didn't feel you have that ability at the beginning. The bottom line is that if you have confidence, you have won even before you started the challenge. Action breeds success and inaction breeds failure. So my friends GET UP, GET OUT, and GET GOING! Confidence and happiness is yours for the taking. Always remember, "If you shoot for the moon and fall a little short you will still land among the stars! The fact that you have tried your best makes you a STAR! HAVE A FAITH-FILLED, FABULOUS FRIDAY!

26/08/2024

Good Monday morning family and friends. As I sit here in my office this morning I am thinking about faith and belief. I am also thinking about our world and how many people are searching for hope and promise. Well, as these thoughts are going through my mind, I am reminded of the fact that as a person of faith, I am commanded to share the good news of Jesus Christ and all He can be to those who would invite Him to be part of their lives. The Great Commission calls us to a granted authority and power to fulfill the mission. Look at the word by definition: Commission: the granted authority and power to do. Mission: a particular task or duty Mark 16:11: He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. John 15:16: You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. 2 Corinthians 3:6: He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. This is a real test of our faith. We have been called, commissioned and equipped to fulfill the great commission. It's time that we step out in faith and begin thinking, talking, and acting like true sons and daughters of God. Jesus said in Mark 9:23, ‘If you can”, said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.” Maybe, just maybe, the real question is, “DO WE BELIEVE?” I am challenged by the Canaanite woman in Matthew 15:22. A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is demon-possessed and suffering terribly.” At first Jesus didn’t even answer her. In fact, His disciples implored Him to send her away because she had been persistently pursuing Him. Verse 25 says that she came and knelt before Him. She threw herself prostate at His feet. This woman got serious with God. Verse 28 shows the dramatic conclusion to this incident. Then Jesus said to her, “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.” And her daughter was healed at that moment. She would not take no for an answer, and she had her request granted. We have our own place setting at the table of God. Yet, we often act like we do not truly believe. Everything He promised is available to us. All things are possible when we believe. I repeat this verse again in order that we might see the reality of the power available through Jesus Christ. Mark 16:15-17: He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” “WE MUST HAVE FAITH, UNQUESTIONING BELIEF IN GOD” I challenge you to Get Up! Get Out & Get Going! I realize we are not all the same. However, if Jesus lives within us, then we have the power to pray and believe for our families, friends and those we encounter each day. Let’s believe today for the miracle that is needed in the lives of those we encounter each day. Do not be deterred from the true power that comes from Jesus Christ, through the Holy Spirit. Faith in God can move mountains. HAVE A MOTIVATED, MOUNTAIN-MOVING MONDAY!

Good Friday morning family and friends. As I walked this morning I thought about those in my life who have impacted me and helped shape who I am today. I asked myself this question as I was looking around, saying good morning to those I met along the way and reflecting on my life. "What really matters?" Of course I thought about my life when I pondered my response. Faith in God is first for me because my faith is what makes everything else right. Second, only to God is my family, and the rest of my life comes after. I encourage you to Get Up! Get Out & Get Going! Ask yourself, What matters? HAVE A FABULOUS FRIDAY!

21/08/2024

Good Wednesday morning to all my family and friends. There is a child's song that says this:..."the more we pull together, the happier we'll be..." Simple words but very true. The more we agree and work together the more great things get accomplished. We need to find common ground and move on from there to work out our differences. We will not always agree, but that doesn't mean we do not respect the opinions and ideas of others. One of the biggest problems in the world today is that people are not willing to sit and talk. I encourage you to Get Up! Get Out & Get Going! No matter what we are doing today we should try to apply that simple lesson of pulling together. Instead of criticizing the things that others do, encourage them for their efforts and help them make their day better than yesterday. Let this be a day to find as many positives as possible. One writer put it this way. "Many ideas grow better when transplanted into another mind other than the one where thay sprang up." Remember "TOGETHER IS BETTER." HAVE A WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY!

Good Monday morning to everyone. Another great day to be alive. Our earth is getting watered today. We can't complain though because we certainly have had a great summer. Nature is just taking its course and we are finishing our summer season and soon be heading to the fall. We just have to accept this is the way God planned things and we have to live within the season. Life is like that. We have to take every day as it comes, deal with what each day brings, change what we can, and stop worrying about the things we have no control over. Through faith and trust in Jesus live each day to the fullest, have no regrets, be caring, kind, and loving. Help as many people as you can and show appreciation to everyone and everything around you. Don't take advantage of others and don't allow yourself to be taken advantage of. While caring for others make sure you take time for yourself to reflect and refresh. Always remember that God created us to care for each other. That is why you should always treat others as you would want to be treated. You have been given this day to have a positive impact on the world around you and make it a better place because you are a resident here. I encourage you to Get Up! Get Out! & Get Going! Remember, the key to having JOY is "Jesus first, Yourself last and Others in between!" HAVE A MARVELOUS MONDAY!

16/08/2024

Good Friday morning family and friends. As I was walking this morning I thought about the blessings we have in our lives. I think about family, friends, health, homes, food, clothing, and the list goes on. While I thought about these, I just had to thank God for the gift of life. Yes, I realize throughout our world there are those who probably do not feel the way I do this morning. Even here in our little province of Newfoundland and Labrador there are those who face days that are hard and they just do not know what today might bring. I pray that today God will step into their situations and provide whatever they need. There is one thing I do know without doubt, that is the fact Jesus loves every single person today and He calls each one to come to Him and He will meet their needs. The greatest gift ever given to any of us was the gift of Jesus Christ. The writer in the book of 1 John puts it this way. 1 John 4:9 - 11 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. God was the first Giver. He first gives selflessly Himself to us in the person of His son. He was the only answer for the fallen world. Every other method failed. His name was announced from Heaven. The greatest and most needed gift ever given to the world, but rejected so many times by so many people. Our life or our death depends on the acceptance or rejection of this gift. We were created in the image of God to be eternal beings. We can live each day knowing He is by our side to help us face every day and whatever it brings. On the other hand we can reject Him and live each day trying to make it on our own without His guidance or companionship. We have been given the free will to choose our personal path. I encourage you today to Get Up! Get Out! & Get Going! Invite Jesus Christ to be part of your life and allow Him to walk with you to help guide and protect you. I am reminded of the words of the familiar song, “Because He Lives I Can Face Tomorrow.”

14/08/2024

Good Wednesday morning Family and friends. I just completed a great morning walk. The air was certainly cooler this morning. However, it was so refreshing to the lungs and body. As I was walking this morning I began to think about the conversations I have had with people over the past days and weeks. Some talked about the weather being too hot this summer, some talked about the dread of winter coming, others talked about how they can't believe that school is soon starting. One person had a different position than either of these. They talked about the great summer and how they enjoyed every opportunity they had, they said it was a great summer for the children. I thought about the contrast of these conversations. At the end of the day I thought about how people see things differently. How much you enjoy the people and things around you is determined by the way you perceive them and your world. I believe that we are all connected to each other. As most of you know I am a person of faith and I firmly believe I have what I have, and I am who I am because of the amazing grace of God. He has certainly blessed me every day. I believe in the power of prayer, and I also believe in being positive and sharing my positivity with the world. I also believe that we should take care of each other. It is because of the peace of God within me that I am able to face every day knowing I am not alone. Not only do I have Jesus in my heart, walking with me every day, but I also have lots of people I know who are praying for me and believing in the blessings of God. It is very simple, when you have faith and are positive about your world you spread it to those around you. No matter what you dream or think about yourself and your life, the only person who can stop it or make it happen is you. You achieve things through faith and believing. Even people of faith can only receive through acceptance of God and the blessing He makes available to us. It is a choice we make, either we believe and receive or doubt and lose out. I challenge you to Get Up! Get Out & Get Going! Take a look at yourself and say no matter what life throws at you today, you are going to allow your faith to rise up and you are going to find the positive in it and use it to get you to where you are meant to be. I always remind people we were all born in the image of God and it was intended for us to live lives of victory, positivity and promise, even when things around us do not warrant this attitude. I challenge you to stand tall, stand strong, and stand superior to all the challenges you face. You are a champion. You are more than a conqueror through Jesus Christ who loves you! HAVE A WINNING WEDNESDAY!

Good Monday morning family and friends. As I sit here this morning I am reminded of the comfort of knowing Jesus. I think of the words of the chorus, " I do not know how others make it through, who never go to Calvary as I do. There a healing stream still flows, a stream that only His redeemed can know. I claim the blood Jesus shed on Calvary. His precious bloodstains were made there just for me. For all my sin, my sickness and my pain, when I need healing, I claim those precious bloodstains." I encourage you to Get Up! Get Out & Get Going! Put your hand in the hand of the greatest friend you could ever meet. "He is as close as the mention of His name!"

09/08/2024

Good Friday morning family and friends. I trust you have had a great week and as you head into the weekend you will be safe and enjoy time with family and friends. If you are working throughout the weekend, thank you for your services and I trust your weekend will be a safe and positive experience. As I sit here in my office this morning I am thinking about people and how, even though we are so different, and might not even realize it, we need each other and depend on each other so much. Whether we are immediate family, close friends, co-workers, acquaintances, and just people living in the same community, we directly or indirectly depend on each other. This is the reason why we must constantly and consistently show kindness and respect to those we encounter each and every day. The Bible tells us how important it is to show kindness and love to others in Mark 12: 28-31.”One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important? The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.” Jesus put loving your neighbor right up there with loving God. It's that important. So how do we move beyond just being a "good" neighbor and into being a Christ-like neighbor? How do we live out our faith in our neighborhood, especially if we've been living in the area for a long time and nobody even knows we're a Christ-follower? Christ calls us to reach out to others and show the love of Christ through our words, actions and deeds. We cannot force our beliefs on others, but we can demonstrate the love of Christ. I believe we are living in the end of days and Christ will soon return for His true church. Therefore we must be diligent in carrying out the Great Commission, which is to spread the news of the love of Jesus. Small, but intentional steps gave us countless opportunities to love and pray with and for our neighbors. I challenge each of us today. Get Up! Get Out & Get Going! What are we doing to impact our community with the love of Christ and encourage them to find faith in Jesus Christ? “As we step out in faith to share the Gospel, let's remember that we are not alone; God is with us, empowering and guiding us through the Holy Spirit. May we be inspired to live out our faith in such a way that draws others to the love and truth of Jesus Christ.” HAVE A FAITH-SHARING FRIDAY!

07/08/2024

Well, what another beautiful day! It is indeed a blessing to be enjoying this great day. As I walked this morning I thought about family, friends and those I have made acquaintances with over the years. As many of them came vividly to mind, I felt such appreciation for each and every one of them. I reflected on the interactions we have had and how each person has help shape who I am today. Some of the interactions were very pleasant while others were at times challenging. The final thought that came to mind was this. There is not one person who I have encountered throughout my life, whether we agreed on things or not, but I can sit and have coffee/tea with today and have a respectful conversation. As I look around the world today and see such upheaval and uncertainty, I am so glad that the love of God within my life allows me to see others as creations of God. We we all created in His image and we ought to treat our fellow human as such. We do not agree with everything others say or do, and they feel the same about me. However, as a follower of Christ I am to be a reflection of the love of God to each and every person I encounter. I am not required to agree with every person, but I am required to love every person. I challenge you to Get Up! Get Out! & Get Going! Look around you, there are those who need a smile, a kind word and a helping hand. My prayer is that I would be, "His hand Extended!" HAVE A WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY!
