“All these talks about Wizkid being proud will always be funny to me. 2014 I had my show in Lagos and I really needed Wizkid to perform and I was willing to pay him anything.

I contacted him and he told not to bother about paying him. He promised to come as a surprise guest & put up a show for free.

3 days to the event, Wizkid called me that he won’t be able to show up coz a very important family emergency had happened. I was really heartbroken but I just had to accept the reality. 35 minutes after that call, Wizkid asked me to contact any Nigerian artiste I will like to book for the event and get back to him with the bills. I quickly contacted Lil Kesh, Kcee, Yemi Alade and Phyno. The bill was about 40 Million Naira and Wizkid cleared it all. Mannn! I thought I was dreaming. Wizkid is not the guy social media keeps trying to make y’all believe he is” ~ Basket Mouth.

He was a great actor, a great comedian and one of the actors that made our childhood beautiful and gave us memories to remember.

The exchange rate from Dollar to naira and from Euro to Naira currency has increased significantly from 1250 and 1300 Naira in January to 1668 and 1820 Naira as at today 20th day of February.

Ayrastarr is now one of the many Nigerian stars who had been booked for performances in South Africa, but the shows could not push through because they were denied visas by the South African embassy.

The 2024 Grammy Awards marked a significant milestone for African music with the introduction of the Best African Music Performance category.

This new category signifies a breakthrough for the African music industry, acknowledging and appreciating a broader array of artists beyond the traditional categories where African artists have had limited opportunities for nominations.

The five nominees for the inaugural award represented only two countries, Nigeria, and South Africa, but the category's introduction has sparked discussions about the representation of African music in the global music scene.

Tyla, a South African artist, won the first-ever GRAMMY Award for Best African Music Performance for her song "Water." She beat out notable competitors such as Burna Boy, ASAKE, Davido, and Ayra Starr. The new category has been met with mixed reactions, with some questioning the criteria for selecting artists and the representation of African music as a whole.

Despite the new category, many African artists have already made significant strides in the Grammy Awards. South Africa's Ladysmith Black Mambazo has won five Grammys and been nominated 17 other times. Angelique Kidjo of Benin has won five Global Grammys and been nominated 14 other occasions. Burna Boy himself has been nominated 10 times and won once, all in just the past four years.

The outcome of the Grammy award has caused a lot of controversies between African countries. By general individual performance, I believe Tyla is much behind most of the nominees but "water" as a single song took Africa everywhere.

I think it was well deserved and I wish other nominees a more eventful experience in the future.
