My husband didn't know I was a millionaire, yes I am very rich but I decided to hide it from my husband cause I was afraid of losing him, he is the kind of man that believes when a woman is Rich she won't make a good and submissive wife, I talked him to a indoor wedding to stop personalities from coming, I lived a very low lifestyle and stayed off the public eyes.

My husband started bullying me, he disrespected me and did all manner of demeaning things to me, I swallowed them all, so many times he abused my late parents that they were poor and kept nothing for their only child, that was when I understood that he felt his money will make a poor woman to endure him.

So many times he left and didn't drop money for food, to him he was starving me🤣but how can you starve a woman that owns 14 luxury restaurant in different states? He had stopped me from working cause he wanted a dependent wife to kick around.

One of the days he starved me he got home and saw the food my manager delivered to me, he screamed, where did you get the money to order food from this luxury restaurant? In my mind I was laughing, so he knows about my restaurant but doesn't know I own it.

He started assuming a man bought the food for me but I wasn't moved, he stopped me from using any of his cars, but he saw a well dressed guy driving a car 3 of his cars couldn't get, he threatened to throw me out but was afraid to try it cause he saw no fear in me when he threatened.

He kept keeping late night and didn't even end there but brought some women home, he said he was going to marry a second wife so he brought the girl home, I still kept calm, one day my agent told me a company was up for sale, it's the company my husband works in, I decided to buy the company, my husband was hoping for a better boss not knowing I was the one, he gave me a divorce paper on Thursday, Monday morning I showed up in the office as the new owner, he couldn't believe his eyes, after work he got home before me and prepared food, I refused to explain anything to him, he had been begging me to forgive him but I don't know what I am going to do to him.
I need your advice pls. 🤷🤷

How I wish I could remain young forever... It was almost like yesterday that someone asked: "how old are you?" I responded "9" and he said, "put it in a sentence" and I got confused only to realise I was expected to say "I am 9 years old." That was around 1987. In the mid 2000s, I was complaining to be too old at 28 to be in 100 level at the University of Benin and was always ashamed to ask anyone for school fees as I vowed to fend for all my upkeep and resolved to turn my hobby and passion for photography into a full time job that nearly hijacked my full time studies from the university. I dearly paid for that as I missed some classes and a few examinations that I was not aware was holding until I saw the past question papers. I had some carry overs to rewrite and extra year not because I was a dull student but because participating in all academic activities would not have salvaged my situation then by being in the classroom every time. Like I earlier said, I wasn't too young nor was I a Metuselah back in those days on campus. There were so many students far older than I was on campus and even in my class, I knew few of my class mates who were like 1 or 2 years older than I was then. A very good friend, a lady who I liked so much then because of her disposition to life and wisdom but has kept as a friend and usually refer to as my 'twin' was 3 months older even though she looked so younger to my consternation.
For a whole part of my studentship, I never lacked so much because photography was paying off. That was the era digital photography was sparsely common and camera phones with great picture quality was rare in saturation. I made quite a lot of money both off and on campus with my analogue Canon camera. I covered a lot of events ranging from student activities and weddings with a near perfection. I remember buying a Nikon analogue camera before the Nigeria Universities Games hosted by the University of Benin in a certain year. The camera cost me 28,000 naira in Lagos but It was able to recoup the money in a day or two from the proceeds at the Universities games. Hardly was there any Matriculation or Convocation I didn't cover then as a student photographer. Many of my works are still being reposted online and it gladdens my heart to be part of those memories.
One of the worst decision I undertook was to start off as a journalist in Nigeria. I started as a photojournalist with TELL magazine and was almost given a heart attack by the paltry pay they called salary. Over time I had an avowed love and interest for journalism. My first Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board examination in 1996 had me filling in Mass Communication as my preferred first and second choice. Even as a student at the English and Literature departement, I felt very elated in my third year when we were introduced to a course known and referred to as English language introduction to Mass Communication. I am not in any way postulating that one cannot have a breakthrough with that career in Nigeria but it is certain that most person who had an upright career failed and were pauperized by a system that gags the press and condition them to sell their conscience and birth rights on the platter of brown envelopes. Till today, TELL magazine is still owing me and a lot of other workers unpaid salaries. This circumstance is also obtainable in other stables (radio, TV and prints) where the publishers and directors of most media houses seem to hold their workers in what appears as ransom tied to salaries they are Waiting on Godot for.
Many of us who seemed mesmerized by the attention we got from the audience and politicians when we introduce ourselves as journalists and people who worked from an airconditioned newsrooms never knew how foolish we were then until it became obvious that we were working for capitalists who are more interested in their selfish capital investments than our welfares. Imagine how publishers and Chief editors feel when they fall out of place with the ruling government owing to your write-ups that created the chasm. How many of those libelous cases you as a journalist is facing in the court of law do you have the moral or financial support of your stables in Nigeria? It has always been a case of all man to himself as you battle and wriggle your way out through the legal procedures. You are most times left with the option of tendering a public apology or going for it in a case and course you knew was to be a just fight in your advantage.
It is far better to hone your skills in the agricultural sector and other micro enterprises that is assuring of a regular pay than waste your precious life on household screens and writing out your life without any seeming benefits. How many of the myriads of the newspapers, televisions and radios that dots every corners of Nigeria is faithful in paying gratuities and pensions for their effortless workers and journalists? I guess the numbers of those who painstakingly pay are so insignificant if they still exist.
Now that I am growing older with kids attaining growth as years advance, there are so many field I will advise them never to throe so as not to have an economic collapse of their beautiful lives. Journalism in Nigeria stands prime as one I will tell them never to consider because it's always a practical case of "monkey dey work, baboon dey chop" syndrome. Once the publishers and the directors and some senior editors are well fed, the rest of the workforce should go hungry, so to say. Practising journalism in Nigeria conventionally might be an economic su***de mission unless you wanted to learn the pros and cons of the profession which you would use to advance your social media presence and presentations. At least, being a good presenter or broadcaster on radio and television could be an advantage for you to garner a great followership and presence on your Youtube and Facebook channels. You probably could make a lot of money as a blogger if you are a consistent and constructive writer without any iota of laziness than you could make writing for a print media. Your weekly or monthly income on a moneytized Facebook and Youtube platform can dwarf that of an average honest journalist from either the government or privately owned media houses in Nigeria.
As I turn 45 in a couple of weeks, I will continue to look retrospectively at those days, months and years I wasted practising journalism in Nigeria in the face of other less popular and well paying opportunities that abound in the agricultural sector which is the economic wheel of many thriving nations. As I get closer to the golden age and advancing to the rank of a senior citizen, I will advise the younger generation not to always go for jobs that appears too good to be true or look cozy and fancy. Many of those who works in those airconditioned offices do sweat profusely under the cool environments. They usually have piles of debts on their necks, so toe say. Their monthly pay is usually insignificant and are rarely regular. When it becomes regular, they are hardly enough to fend for a responsible financial obligations. Instead of wasting your youths on a job that would not give you a job security, look inwardly and seek for a superior or a professional advice. It is better to be stained in your garden or farm as you key into many of the abounding opportunities in agriculture than to be a neat woeker in an office at the mercy of hunger and uncertainty. The internet is also veritable and abounds with a lot of opportunities too. I am not an expert there. If you pay an expert for a tutelage, I am sure, there are plenty to reap financially from that sector.

My Midnight Thought in Retrospect

Beneath the beauty of a woman lies some underlying factors that cements something you feel for her. It does not just start with beauty and will never end in the mere face she carries about all day starting from the usual gaze at any of those mirrors in the corners of her house or that which she is constantly mobile with -- stuck inside her bag.
Something must definitely be responsible for that craving a man would have in a woman before he starts off a relationship with her. Even where it is infatuation, yes, that is enough to start off a tango that might not last beyond the flash of a lightning in the dark cloud before the wet season. Such relationships are characterised by extreme economy of expressions or omission of superfluous elements that carries any sort of feelings strong enough to rouse the the god of love; cupid from his great slumber.
It is sometimes easy for a woman to think that she has finally sealed the heart of a man with whatever she calls love but that is not always so as many men are experts in playing a lead role of deceit in every of these hide and seek games to the disadvantage of the supposed queen of their hearts.
Veronica was a beautiful woman I got to know from a distant observation, she was assisted by nature to have that ephemeral looks of youth's transient beauty that attracts all sorts of men to sit around her arguing over football and politics, sitting before them the very choicest wines intermittently sipped to gain her attention. Vero, a sufficiently fat lady with a pleasing fullness of figure with a fair skin that glitters in the sun just arrived Ore from Abuja. Because of her chubby looks, it would be very difficult to determine her age but a guess work will put her age at 30 or 32 years.
In those days, I was just a struggling youth whose main aim was to break even in the commodities market. With my mean resources, I was in the midst of men and older women whose main priority is to outwit you in everything and knock you off in a line of business that is more of envious competition and rivalry. To be in the business, you must have enough money to run the business which includes sales and supplies of salt, sugar, beans, rice and other stuffs that are needed by one's customers.
At the middle of every week or on Saturdays, Vero would come to meet a certain Rufus who also trades on our similar line of business. Sometimes, I will observe that when an argument starts brewing forth between Vero and Rufus, other men who used to flock Rufus shop where Veronica constantly comes to would excuse them to iron matters out in their rapid but hushed voices. Perhaps every other person within might know the bone of contention of their constant arguments but I am always in the dark but would usually wonder what on earth might be responsible for this ceremonious rancour.
It was just recently that I got to know of the misfortunate circumstances that made Vero to argue constantly with Rufus those years in passing. I cannot remember the exact year it was when I first met Vero in the above explained circumstance but it was not less than the year 2006. Just in 2021 when I saw Vero, she looks pathetic in her piteous and pitiful looks as she appeals for help to sustain herself.
She told me without me prying to know of what it was that transformed her to her current looks that seems to have lost those currents that easily ignites and magnets men to seek her attention. In this current state, I was baffled what could make this once upon a time beauty to have her beauty in flight. Without masking it, I intended to satisfy my curiosity without appearing offensively inquisitive. Perhaps seeing me in wonderment, she helped by divulging those information that helped me to unravel the mystery behind the arguments made in hushed tones between her and Rufus years ago.
According to her, she was a daughter of a certain prophet in her village. Her father used to help so many people with their spiritual problems and other matters. A certain rich man came down to their village, and was somehow helped out of a problem which I did not bother to know its details. At the end of the day, the rich man proposed a relationship with her. Because of the man's wealth and her aspiration to live in the city of Abuja, she eventually was married to the man. Not long afterward, the man died leaving behind a lot of money which amounts to millions of naira and other properties in the choicest place in Abuja. I didn't ask her if the man has other wives and children but it appears her marriage with the man was not blessed with any child. If the money she brought to Ore then which ran into several millions of naira was her only share from the wills or whatever of the late rich man, I do not know but I came to realize that most of the money she brought from Abuja was used to run the business of Rufus and all those choice wines and behind the scene parties that they all attended then were run by her millions which in the long run did not realise any worthwhile returns of her share of the surplus she once swam in.
She became allowed herself to become a tool in the hands of Rufus who obtained her financially and otherwise. At that time, Rufus was married and is still married to a beautiful woman who was doing so well for herself. They had two children then. A boy and a girl and thereafter had another boy.
Veronica on her part lost everything to Rufus and perhaps to other men who may have been reminding her of how beautiful she was while plotting their ulterior motives. A close look into her eyes the last time she came to seek assistance from me for a job exposed the weight of pains and regrets she might have been suppressing under that face that once radiates beauty, valour and youthfulness.
It is so unfortunate that Veronica who was bequeathed with all that beauty lacked the substance and brain that helped so many women like her to climb up the rudder of wealth and independence with little or so much buck of wads as it happened in her case.
Abounding in numbers today are women and men who do not know what they want out of life. Women and men whose main goal in life is to expend all they earn or are bequeathed in inheritance to excessive enjoyments that bleeds their accounts and savings to mortality until they become wretched, hungry and angry and at the mercy of those they once despised or look down upon.
I have seen so many influential and affluence men whose wives are not near beauties but when these women speaks, you will see the outstanding heights of their beautiful intelligence which helps to cement their relationship with their husbands and help to safeguard the family wealth. On the other hands, there exists so many beautiful women whose beauty is unnecessarily responsible for the nosedive of their family wealth and steeped financial indebtedness.
Today, so many men are looking for such kind not so beautiful women who are always there to goad them to clinch success while many among the so-called beauties are being milked by the rapacious men among us whose living is supported by preying on beautiful women. Men who in their pastime has insatiable vulturine taste like of offal when such women so present themselves on a platter of gold.
