Life lately..
I got back to corporate life after a long break of 7 months. While it wasn't exactly a break from working and progressing, it was definitely a break from the whole corporate routine.
Some learnings that I will surely take with me;
a. Understand your priorities and appreciate them. For my initial years in corporate, my priority was to settle in, to make myself financially independent. Now, my priority is my personal life and having peace. It doesn't take me away from my ambitions, but actually enables me to have more energy and a positive mindset.
b. Health is the most important wealth. This is a lesson I learned the hardest way, and I guess my dad will laugh at this. But it took me years to understand that only if I'm healthy physically and mentally, I will lead a good life. No amount of financial riches will be enough if my body doesn't support me.
c. Be assertive with your management and team about your priorities. They should know your priorities and appreciate them. If they do not care about your well being, they aren't the right set of people to work with. If you deserve time off, better pay, you should get it. And work life balance should be the most important factor.
While I don't know if I'll be able to maintain this over the long term (it's just been one week!), I really hope I'm able to navigate the corporate world with my new priorities of life without letting go of my ambitions.
