i encountered a post today about a dog that a family had for 7 years and died after giving birth. the cause of death was said to be cardiac arrest. she said grief is a price we pay for love.

we encounter heartaches that hurts us so much we think twice (or we think so much) before doing again. i got hurt the same way after our cat died years ago that my thinking was i never want to have a pet again. i am grateful i got the courage of starting over and adopting 2 dogs. i know they will leave me too, but it will be a regret not feeling the happiness i am feeling now with them. so yes, i’ll do it over again because we can’t do away with the fact that the only ones who can hurt us are the ones we love the most.
