After coming to the States at an early age the two were focused. Julene obtained a degree in Business Management and spent years in banking after which she became a business owner in 2010. Tamika took a different path acquiring her degree in Architectural Design and became a director in her firm. After promoting an after work VIP event the two were offered an opportunity to host their own TV show;
I-Land Connect on a Caribbean Network. If you know nothing about the Twins, you know nothing is done at half speed! Growing Up in Brooklyn
Jay and Tee moved to Brooklyn, NY at the age of 8 from Jamaica. The girls were very much a like, but took two different paths. Julene was more into sports; Track and Field was her first love. She did Long Jump and was a sprinter on her school track team running the 100 and 200 meters in addition to the 4 x 100 and 4 X 200 relay. Going to the Penn relays and acquiring over 80 medals over her junior high and high school years. Tamika ran track for a short time, but she was more interested in modeling which she pursued throughout high school, working the runway and doing pageants. The girls always had a love for reggae music after growing up with artists like Buju Banton, Bounty Killer, Gregory Isaacs, Beres Hammond, Bennie Man, Pinchers, Lady Saw and Sizzla just to name a few. Brooklyn can be like little Jamaica with its dense West Indian population. Going back to Waterford (Jamaica) every summer the girls were exposed to their culture first hand. As much as these surroundings drew out their inner roots it exposed the fact that they command attention everywhere they go. The Twins started to host the TV show I-Land Connect early 2012 after being approached, during a live taping of a promotional spot for a party they were promoting, by the owner of Kaya TV, the they have taken the Caribbean by storm. Wherever they show up, to record their show, cover an event, interviewing the new faces of reggae, or while making their debut in Smooth Magazine (November 2012 issue) the vibes always Tun up. While the journey of these two intelligent bombshells has just begun, face it you know you wannabe a part of it or just watch…. Since then they have done interviews and showcased a wide array of artistes and Jamaican events, activities and places of interests. Thriller U, Dancehall group T.O.K., Bounty Killer's Alliance Next Generation (ANG) Camp are just some of the artistes that they have featured thus far, and also showcasing places of interest to Jamaica such as the Black River Safari, Little Ochi Seafood, Greenwood Greathouse and they are now embarking on their latest joint venture which is a mentorship program called "Making The Right Choice" for selected students attending the Holy Trinity High School in Jamaica.
