The idea of The Sout-Al-Khaleej (Voice of the Gulf) radio station developed in an attempt to represent the Arab and Gulf heritage through poetry, songs and the arts. The concept was embodied in the launching of the Sout-Al-Khaleej radio station in Doha on February 2nd 2002, with the music library today consisting of t
housands of exclusive songs from more than 70 of the top artists from the Gulf and Arab world, as well as hundreds of poems from the greatest Arab poets. Since then, it has expanded to broadcast in many other Arab and foreign countries including, most recently, London. Sout-Al-Khaleej satisfies those with a contemporary taste in music and has also revived older songs from the biggest artists in the Gulf and Arab regions. It has sculpted a unique identity of the Gulf for which it has become recognised for, through its various talk shows and cultural, poetry, sports, and religious programs. Sout-Al-Khaleej has also contributed to organising as well as participating in the Doha Song Festivals and provided full coverage of the festivals since its launch, as well as local and regional sporting events. Moreover, it follows the news of artists and the entertainment industry in most Arab countries. In the interest of having access to its listeners wherever they are, Sout-Al-Khaleej now broadcasts in various countries including:
- Manama, Bahrain
- Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
- Muscat, Oman
- London, United Kingdom
- Baghdad, Al-Basrah, Al-Musel, Iraq
Since the day of its launch, the pursuit of excellence and uniqueness does not stop for Sout-Al-Khaleej in order to truly live up to its motto, “the voice is your voice”.
