This week's show is another mix of new and old. I like doing it that way, I think. I mean, the shows that are two hours of brand new singles or a trip down memory lane are cool too, but I think throwing it together with a little curation is my favorite. Other than when I have a guest host in the studio with me, of course.

You know, if you want to join me, we might be able to do it virtually. I haven't played with it too much, but those of you not in NoVa could Zoom or call or something. Let me know if you are interested.

Massive Attack,Sex Pistols, Joe Jackson, Aimee Mann, RATM, and Ray LaMontagne. That’s the last several artists played on WNRN and this is why it’s one of my favorite radio stations on the planet. They play everything I like and do it often enough to keep me coming back.

So, decent chance the show doesn't happen tomorrow. Storm on the way and if it hits in the afternoon, the station might close early.

I don't usually play bigger artists on the show, but I do listen to them. Because, of course I do! Great music exists on all sorts of labels with budgets of all sizes and some of the best music ever written and recorded is massively popular. No shame in liking it.

I say this because my current obsession is a song from a relatively big artist in the UK that isn't quite as big here yet.

You could say this song is just a mash up, a copy almost, of The War On Drugs and Arcade Fire and very clearly Springsteen. Maybe. Hell, Adam Granduciel produced it and this kid is very open with how important The Boss is to him. But these themes are timeless. And the song is so damn catchy, holy crap. This video is clearly from some town in the UK, but it would fit just as well blasting from your speakers as you fly down Route 9 or cruise Ocean Ave or tool along whatever roads the Butler brothers used to travel.

Given that next week's episode is featuring a fellow Garden Stater, another Gen X Jersey Shore kid who loves music, it's nice to hear something that sounds like home. Yes, it's the horns.

I just love it. It mades me feel happier every single time I hear it. And "happy" isn't a thing I do that often, so if it works for me...

Hey Gorgettes, while GD Jr. has headed back to his fancy schooling, I've got great stuff lined up for the next three weeks. Which I'm working on when I'm not shoveling snow.

On 1/21, two hours of classic indie rock and Jersey Shore attitude with Lisa. She is a mover and shaker in politics and comms, but she and I go back to the days of sweaty high school parties. So we might just talk about that!

On 1/28, a grab bag of catchy, dancy, and moody with Kenan. He's got a straight job too, but GDRH isn't about commercial success so we will just talk about his sad late nights in dark mascara.

But first, on 1/14, I'm back in the studio, live and flying solo. I've got a whole pile of new music to kick off the year right. Some of these bands might be your new favorites, some of these tracks might lead you into the best albums you'll hear all year. You never know. Queuing up Squid, Twine, Blue Zero, hemlock, 22º Halo, and so much more.

Hope you've had a great start to 2025. The show is still on, although we haven't been able to put on a live one in a few weeks due to the holidays and all. This week is no different as the staff at Fairfax Public Access are taking a well needed break.

What I do know is that I've got two guests coming in this month and they've got some great tracks lined up to play for us. We might have a few fun stories thrown in too, so you don't want to miss it.

First up, my homie, The Friday Reporter, joins us for a retro show with lots of Jersey flavor. And then later this month, my pal Kenan comes on to give us a eclectic and thematic set from the 90s and 00s, but I have no idea what the theme is yet. We will find out together!
