To quote one profiler's words back in 1992, he was "the hunky heir." Brandon Lee's athleticism made him a natural fit for the martial arts-forward roles that got his foot in Hollywood's door and the perfect person to take up the mantle left by his legendary father Bruce Lee's death.

Brandon’s friend George Clooney reflects on the loss of him and the legacy of his accident.
“Every single time I’m handed a gun on the set...I look at it, I open it, I show it to the person I’m pointing it to, I show it to the crew," Clooney said. "Every single take, you hand it back to the armorer when you’re done and you do it again. And part it is because of what happened to Brandon."
The actor and director reflected on losing his friend Brandon Lee — who was shot and killed with a prop gun on the set of “The Crow” in 1993.
Ernie Hudson expresses his support for the removal of real guns from film sets, and reflects on the anger that many are feeling right now, stating that accidents happen when there are short cuts with budgets and time restraints, which creates stressful working conditions like it did on The Crow. The deaths of Brandon Lee and Halyna Hutchins were preventable.
Ernie Hudson on the passing of Hutchins:
“It bought back a lot of memories of Brandon. We go on, we keep moving forward — but there is always that space in your life. You’re heartbroken. You have no control, but you still have to process it and how do you do that? I am just so heartbroken that anything like that can happen again.”
Hudson also comments on the lasting affect of Brandon's death on Michael Massee for the rest of his life for something he was not responsible for. Another reminder that tragedy has a ripple effect on all those connected to the event or persons involved.

The iconic actor, who was in the Brandon Lee film, agrees with those who are calling for Hollywood to ban real guns from sets after the latest tragedy.
Wow! After 28 years, Brandon's fiancee, Eliza breaks her silence and voices publicly her feelings about her own loss and the devastating circumstances of Haylna Hutchins' passing.
"Twenty-eight years ago, I was shattered by the shock and grief of losing the love of my life, Brandon Lee, so senselessly. My heart aches again now for Halyna Hutchins' husband and son, and for all those left in the wake of this avoidable tragedy."
Further urging filmmakers to "to make a change to consider alternatives to real guns on sets."
Two photos were also included in the article, one that was later used in The Crow, which was actually of Eliza and Brandon in Italy after their engagement in October 1992. The other was one previously posted by Eliza's best friend on her Instagram.

Interview with Brandon's sister Shannon Lee to discuss her brother and his death on CNN. Cuomo did cut her off at one point and kept on recycling a few pieces of misinformation from 1993, but hopefully some positive change will finally occur in Hollywood. Hard questions need to be asked across the industry.
It should be noted that ballistic information is still pending so facts are unknown in the Halyna Hutchins case. It is still a mystery at what happened with the blank or why a gun was aimed at the crew.
Thoughts go out to the Halyna Hutchins family and the Lee family, both families have had to lose a love one under the worst possible circumstances.

In it, she reiterates why technology can replace the projectile capacity weapons and calls for swift industry action at long last. She continues by saying that after discussing it with Eliza Hutton (Brandon’s fiancee) they want to ensure these changes happen in 2021, saying, “ We wish we had thought to do more 28 years ago, and we would love to do that now.”
Just confirmed. There was no prop master on the set of Rust. Cost-cutting and poor working conditions. Sounds familiar.

It’s sad to see Brandon’s name trending for the most devastating of reasons. Safety protocols did improve because of his death, but accidents continue to occur largely because of human error. Guns in films like real life are not toys and should be handled only by professionals and the trained.
Accidents on sets have resulted in numerous deaths and injuries over the years, some bringing about lawsuits or changes in safety guidelines.
Some information about prop guns and blanks (rather than the misinformation circulating by the mainstream media about what they conjecture happened). Yes, it “sounds” like all over again but it's always best to wait for the facts from the law enforcement and OSHA investigations. No matter the case, a promising film professional has been unfairly taken from her beautiful life. No one should die at work. Our sympathies to Halyna’s family.

"Brandon was not only the son of Bruce Lee; he was also a fan of Bruce Lee. Every week throughout his adult life, he would put a different image of his father on his kitchen wall for inspiration and guidance. During his film career, he never used his father's name for his own advancement, even though, like us, he admired his father's iconic status. I had the very great honour and pleasure of meeting Brandon Lee and his partner, Eliza, along with Rick Baker, at the London press-tour for Rapid Fire. We talked about his father together, and Brandon kindly invited Rick and I to join him for a radio interview. He also extended a very kind invitation to hang out on the set of his new movie, when he returned to the UK after filming 'The Crow'. Sadly, his tragic and premature death meant we were unable to grow our friendship further... Brandon was everything we hoped he would be and more - an incredibly intelligent, kind, funny, compassionate and generous human being... "

56 Years since this amazing individual was born. While he will always be forever young as he died at aged 28 years of age, we can only guess what kind of beautiful life Brandon was destined for. While there is always sadness, his birth is a celebration because he lived, loved and was loved in return.
I always like to remind others that while Brandon died on just one day, he lived for 28 years so a life lived should be remembered rather than how someone died. When we remember, we honor his life and his spirit that lives on in the many lives he touched.

The best fake yet real (mostly) band you never heard.
Brandon’s character Eric Draven was a lead singer of a band called Hangman’s Joke. This was a noticeable change from the comic and Brandon seemed to revel in the prospect of playing a guitarist (even took formal lessons). Originally there was a scene with the band fighting in Eric’s apartment. However, this had to be cut after Brandon’s death.
The other members of Hangman’s Joke were in a real band called Charlie’s on Acid based in Charlotte, NC. They remain a band to this day.
Paying tribute to Taky Kimura, who has passed away in Seattle at the age of 96. Taky was a faithful friend and student of Bruce Lee, as well as a Jun Fan Gung-Fu teacher in Seattle. The tributes from his much-loved family, friends and students remember the man as humble, loyal and generous.
Taky was a man in his own right and his story is one of tragedy, adversity and triumph. When Taky meet Bruce Lee, he was by his own admission a broken man who lacked motivation. A Japanese-American who was a survivor of the internment camps set up in the U.S during WWII, which discriminated against Americans on the basis of race and cultural ancestry. Taky’s family survived but suffered in the years after WWII dealing with the class discrimination that many Japanese-Americand endured. When Taky met his sifu, the 19-year-old Bruce Lee told him that he was worth dignity and respect. And despite a gap in their ages, they maintained a deep friendship. Taky always credited Bruce Lee for giving him the strength to reclaim his life and live it without shame or limitations.
After Bruce Lee’s death, Taky became the unofficial guardian of Bruce’s grave and his legacy in Seattle, and in 1993, he took on that role for Brandon’s resting place too. Taky said in 1993 that even though he didn't know Brandon that well (he knew him as a baby, then when his father died and then as a teen), he always hoped that he would get to know him as he grew older. This was sadly not to happen. Brandon had the utmost respect for Taky, and even sent him a signed photo in 1992 (from Rapid Fire) to put up in his school. Taky Kimura was a close family friend to Brandon’s mother Linda right until the end as well as Brandon’s sifu Dan Inosanto.
Taky Kimura is survived by his son Andy, one grandson and many students around the world. RIP Taky, fly high.

A (belated) Happy Birthday to Ernie Hudson, who turned 75 on the 17th. Ernie has close to 250 credited acting roles spanning 45 Years. While he is best known for his legendary roles in the Ghostbusters franchise and for The Crow (the apartment scene with him and Brandon still gives us goosebumps for its emotional rawness), he also is known for his cameos in different films and TV shows in a range of genres including: comedy, sci-fi, drama, adventure and horror. Hudson remains a versatile actor who is still going strong in his 70s.
Ernie Hudson was one of the few actors on The Crow that knew Brandon before filming - they met in 1988 through Brandon’s good friend Miguel Ferrer. Hudson thought at the time that he was a good kid who was doing his own thing. When they re-met years later on the set of the film, Ernie was struck by how much he had matured and how centered he was in his own self, life and in his acting. And he was particularly impressed at how he was dedicated to doing the best work possible and working in collaboration with others.
"I liked Brandon a lot and he worked really hard to get things right, ” said Hudson in 1994.
Brandon with his close friend stuntman Darryl Chan on the set of Showdown in Little Tokyo in 1991. Chan became Lee’s personal trainer for both Rapid Fire and The Crow.
