I was at a conference recently put on by Forsyth Woman Magazine, and I learned so much! One of the many things that really stood out to me was this:

Your purpose is not what you do. It's what happens in others when you do what you do.

Read that again.

As someone who has always searched for a "purpose," that pretty much rocked my world. I realized that I've been doing my purpose my entire life. I love to help people, and by helping them, I get to watch them grow. As a barista at Starbucks, I helped my customers have a good start to their day with delicious coffee and a cheerful hello. As a medical coder, I helped the hospital system run more smoothly and efficiently by making sure the Chargemaster was up to date and correct. As a florist, I helped brides create their perfect vision of their wedding day with their flowers, and I helped those who had just lost a loved one give the deceased a beautiful send off at their funeral.

And now, as a Social Media Manager, I get to help small businesses with their social media! I take it off of their plate, grow their audience, and help drive traffic into their store. My favorite part of this job is seeing how happy my clients are when they get a new customer or make a big sale because someone found them on social media. By supporting our small businesses right here in the Lake Norman area through social media, I am able to see the difference it makes in their lives immediately, and it is so rewarding.

Your purpose is not what you do. It's what happens in others when you do what you do. 💙

Yesterday was International Women’s Day, and my first one as a business owner! I also had my branding photos taken (thank you !!), and spent the day working on my business. It’s crazy to think that just 37 years ago, I would not have been allowed to own this business. Women were granted the right to own a business in the United States in 1988…NINETEEN EIGHTY EIGHT. Literally two years before I was born.

I am so thankful to have the support of my husband, my family, and my friends in this endeavor. I couldn’t do it without them!
