Nothing like the smell of bacon cooking!! TerraBella Thornblade had it all: bacon, sausage, muffins, fruit, coffee and juice. It was a great way to start our day-thanks for the opportunity to network, meet your staff, take a tour and enjoy great food!

Upstate Senior Network-Greenwood/surrounding areas Chapter-July meeting with lunch sponsored by A Medicare Moment. Jack Smith told us to be on the lookout for major Medicare changes and he announced the date for their Greenwood Senior Expo-October 1. Last month we nominated 3 non-profit organizations for our 2025 Community Partner. Today we heard from the first nominee-Connie Maxwell Children's Ministries. Jay Boyd gave us great information about the work they are doing and spoke about the number of grandparents raising grandchildren and how Connie Maxwell serves that senior population. In many cases the grandparents suddenly gain custody of the grandchild and they are not physically or financially able to care for them. Connie Maxwell Ministries can offer assistance in those cases. If you are a professional working in the senior industry, you are invited to visit our August 22nd meeting to learn more about Upstate Senior Network. The meetings begin at 11:45am at South Main St. Baptist Church in Greenwood.

Today was the first official Senior S.P.A.R.K. event at Charter Senior Living. Unfortunately, the weather was not cooperative, so only a few were able attend. But those who did enjoyed a delicious lunch, and a goodie bag. We also got to meet their fabulous new Executive Director, Terri Robinson. Looking forward to August's Senior S.P.A.R.K.

Upstate Senior Network-Spartanburg Chapter-July meeting with lunch sponsored by Patrick Schultz with Brookstone Terrace of Woodruff and Brookstone Terrace of Simpsonville AND Ariel M. Lee with Edward Jones. We heard from the first of our nominees for 2025 Community Partner, Christmas in Action. Deb Kladivko shared that Christmas In Action is a non-profit organization that rehabilitates the houses of elderly, disabled, and otherwise disadvantaged homeowners in Spartanburg County to provide for their continued safety and independence. We will hear from two more non-profit organizations before voting. The winner will be announced at the December holiday party. We were delighted to have several guests with us today. Pickens County Meals on Wheels is facing a shortage of volunteers to get meals delivered to our homebound seniors. We need 46 new volunteers to deliver meals one day a month, OR 23 new volunteers to deliver meals twice a month, OR 10 new volunteers to deliver meals once a week. I started the day today at a fundraiser at Lancaster Grove. I enjoyed a delicious pancake breakfast with their residents, but most people drove-thru on their way to work. They raised over $500 towards their goal of $7,000 for the Rock Hill Walk to End Alzheimer's. They are getting so close!!!
