Fire on Green Bay's West Side
7/25/24 10:30 PM - Green Bay Metro Fire Department was called for a structure fire on Green Bay's West Side. On arrival, crews encountered heavy smoke and fire coming from the garage. Engine 4 made the initial knockdown of the garage. The fire had extended into the home. Crews worked on opening up walls to access the fire and to prevent further extension. All occupants were able to make it out of the home safely. 4 Adults and 1 child were displaced. The Red Cross is assisting the family. Green Bay Metro Fire Department was assisted by the Green Bay Police Department, Wisconsin Public Service, Red Cross, City of Green Bay Public Works, and Brown County Public Safety Communications.
The GBMFD's Fire Marshal's Office has determined the cause of the fire to be improper use of smoking materials by a juvenile. Juvenile fire setting is a serious issue contributing to a dozen fires yearly in our community. Half of these fires are started using smoking materials such as matches and lighters. The Fire Marshal's Office would like to remind parents and caregivers to keep these items away from children and explain the dangers of fire.

Engine 4 responded to a vehicle fire near West Mason Street earlier this evening. The fire was quickly extinguished and there were no reported injuries.
A new senior living community has been officially announced for Commerce Crossing on Kaukauna's north side. It will feature 108 independent living apartments, a 48-unit residential care complex and a 56-unit community-based residential facility.
The Reserve on Arbor Way today announced that they are planning to build a new senior living community in Kaukauna.

GREEN BAY — Authorities say they have recovered the bodies of two children, but their father remains missing, two days after their sailboat was last seen near Door County.

UPDATE: The sailboat has been located just south of Chambers Island. Crews from U.S. Coast Guard Station Sturgeon Bay are on scene and towing the vessel to Fish Creek, according to an update Monday morning. No further details were released.
Authorities are continuing their search for a father and his two kids last seen Saturday on their sailboat.
