It's the first Get To Know Your Customers Day of 2025! This quarterly "social media holiday" provides an opportunity to develop the know/like/trust factor with your audience. People are more likely to work with those they have a certain familiarity with.

So...I'll share 3 fun, random facts about me and I'd love to learn some fun facts about you. So...here goes:

1. I have 4 kids - 3 adult-ish (18, 20, 22) daughters and 1 son (13).

2. I got my first (and currently, only) tattoo when I was 50 years old.

3. I have been to the 2 coldest home games in Baltimore Ravens history - and still had a great time!

So...do we have anything in common? Do you have any similar stories/fun facts? Share away in the comments!

I really don't understand why people do this - and I'm not talking about leaving cabinets open (I'm usually the culprit for doing that in my house lol).

Why do people put links in their caption in Instagram? They're not clickable, so they just clutter up the caption.

So...I have heard from a few business owners that they just post the same content on Facebook and Instagram via a scheduler, so the link shows up in the IG caption even though it's not clickable. In that case, take a moment in your content creation/scheduling process to make a quick edit to the IG caption.

If you still want your IG audience to access the link, there are several ways to to do this:

1. You can have up to 5 links in your bio, so you can use a call to action directing your audience there.

2. You can tell your audience to DM you for the link.

3. You can share your post to your Stories and put the link in your Stories.

Does this seem like a lot to keep up with? Then it may be time to do one of 2 things - outsource some (or all of) your social media or come up with a doable plan that allows you to take care of these things. I can help with both! DM me to learn which option would be the best fit for you!

Do you ever have those super busy times when you have even less time than usual to work on things for your business?

That's been me for the last few weeks. Between winter break and my kids having 3 days off (followed by 2 delayed openings) last week for snow, things have been extra busy.

Even when things are extra busy, you can still make connections for your business! Here's how:

1. Prioritize nurturing your own audience. The most important thing you can do is reply to their comments on your content and reply to their DM's.

2. Look at your overall social media plan. If you're spending a ton of time pumping out content and/or you're on a bunch of different platforms, it may be time to scale back on those things so that you have time for engagement. That's how you make connections that become clients!

Need help figuring out where you should scale back or where you should engage? The Social Growth Game Plan is your personalized social media plan that helps you grow on social media in a way that works for you! DM me to learn more and to get in on the introductory price of $147.

Content creation is an important part of using social media for your business. Having helpful tools makes it easier for you to create more and therefore get more exposure for your business.

Here are my 3 favorites:

1. I use Sendible to create and schedule content for myself and my clients ahead of time. This helps me stay consistent.

2. I use Trello to keep track of posting plans and as a place to put content ideas when I think of them. It's also a great place to make hashtag lists.

3. Canva is my go to for creating graphics to go along with content. It's user friendly and really pretty intuitive, if you ask me.

The best thing you can do to make content creation easier is to have a system. I have a FREE content creation guide that shares the exact 5 step system I use to create content for myself and my clients. Comment below or DM me to get your copy.

Have you seen some of those Reels that have a lot of pictures/videos with an audio clip in the background? Have you tried them, but it's a pain to get them all lined up right?

Instagram has some tools that make this easy. If you see a Reel you like and want to use it to make your own, you can use it as a template if the creator set it up like that. That can be helpful for those times you're scrolling and see something you want to use.

But...what if you want to make one like that, but want some inspiration without scrolling through IG? IG has a tool for that too! When you're ready to create a Reel, tap the plus sign at the top of your page, tap Reel and tap templates. That will bring up a bunch of plug and go templates for you to browse. Then you just need to go through your camera roll, tap the pics/videos you want to use and the hard part (ie all the timing and tricky editing) is done for you. You just need to add text to the Reel (if you want) and a caption. Super easy!

Some may not agree with me on this, so I want to know where you stand.

When you engage for your business, is it all about the sale?

Yes, ultimately we are all using social media to get more clients and make more sales. But, to me (and many other business owners, based off of what I've read), if you're only all about the money when you engage, it's kind of a turnoff.

Are there people who are all about you cutting to the chase and letting them know how you can help them? Sure, but most people prefer to work with people they know, like and trust. So, keep that in mind when you're engaging for your business. Take time to get to know people and let them get to know you.

Is it challenging for you to make time for engagement? Then maybe you're trying to do too much on social media. Having a doable plan allows you to grow your business on social media in a way that works for you. The Social Growth Game Plan helps you do just that. I work with you to learn what is doable, create a customized social media plan based off of that information and then provide one to one support while you implement the plan. Want to learn more? TODAY

That's my word for this year. The last handful of years I pick a word each year to help me focus and to help guide me. This year that word is today.

Am I a planner? Absolutely, but I find that it's so easy to get caught up in the future, in everything I think I should be doing. It's also easy to think about everything I didn't get done. Then when things come up, it's easy to get frustrated.

Instead, I'm going to try to focus on today. What is best for me today? Some days it might be about knocking out a bunch of tasks (work or household or both), while some days might be more about self care. I might have plans to get certain tasks done, but my son (who has special needs) doesn't always sleep well. Then it's hard for me to focus. So in that moment, it's more important for me to rest. Other days I find the time and energy to get a lot done. Some days I have a small block of time to get some things done. So what should I prioritize today? Maybe my son has an unplanned day off school due to weather or maybe I'm not feeling well. What should I take care of today?

So, that's my word for the year. Every now and then, I'll refer back to it on social media and let you all know how it's going for me.

Do you pick a word of the year? If so, what's your word this year?

Happy National Technology Day!

Technology is awesome when it works and when we understand it, right?

For the most part, I do think it's a good thing and makes our lives easier. That said, it can also be confusing at times.

Social media is a part of technology and it can be confusing too, especially if you listen to some of the experts out there. You might think you need to be in all the places doing all the things all the time. That isn't doable for most and certainly isn't sustainable.

Are you using social media for your business (either just getting started or been using it for a while)? Do you feel like you're not quite sure where you should show up and what you should be doing? Do you feel like you can't keep up with it?

What if someone worked with you to learn what is doable for you? They listened to your likes, dislikes, needs, wants, goals, etc.? What if they took all of that guidance and came up with a plan to help you grow in a way that works for you?

Sounds good, right? That's exactly what my Social Media Game Plan does. If you're ready for a personalized social media plan and support while you implement that plan, then you should check it out. Comment below or DM me for the link to learn more.

It's the end of the day (either your work day or the actual day, ie getting close to bedtime) and you realize you didn't post for your business....maybe not even all week!

Want to avoid this feeling of panic/guilt?

The best way to stay consistent with posting is to create and schedule your content ahead of time. It eliminates that last minute panic.

Not sure what to post, where to post, how often to post etc? Can't keep up with all of the posts the experts say you should create? I get it. I cover all of that and more in the Social Growth Game Plan. I'll help you sort out a realistic plan for social media...and provide one to one support while you implement that plan. Finally!

I'm back to routine today. My son's long Winter Break is now over and he's back to school. That gives me a lot more time to get things done. Since he has special needs, he requires constant attention and supervision when he's home, which makes getting anything (business stuff, house stuff, self care etc) done challenging. Now that he's back at school, I have a lot more time to get all the things done.

Except...there still isn't time to do all the things. I have to make the most of that time when he's at school. Some days that means focusing on house stuff, some days it's more business stuff, some days it's more family stuff etc. I need to prioritize what is essential, including what I do on social media for my business. I wish I had time to make tons of Reels (yes, there was time I did this) and spend hours each day engaging on social media. The truth is that there is too much to get done and it is important to me to maintain some sense of balance. So, I find ways to show up consistently, even though it's not constant.

Are you currently using social media for your business, but it's just not working for you? Are you relatively new to your business and/or social media and just don't know where to start?

Then the Social Growth Game Plan is for you! I listen to you about social media - what you like, dislike, feel comfortable doing, have time to do, etc. I then create a personalized plan that will help you show up consistently so you get more exposure and make more connections for your business. Want in on the introductory price of $147? DM me for more info and/or the link to sign up.

What are your plans for tonight?

I know a lot of people like to go out and/or get together with friends on New Year's Eve.

You won't find me doing that! I'll be hanging out at home, chilling on the couch. We have appetizers throughout the night and whoever feels like staying up will watch the ball drop on tv.

When it comes to social media for your business, you don't have to do what everyone else is doing or follow some unrealistic plan a social media guru lays out for all businesses. A lot of times those plans are nearly impossible to keep up with and/or don't really work for the way you like to do things.

I totally get that, so that's why I am now offering the Social Growth Game Plan. I listen to your goals, wants, needs, likes, dislikes, etc and come up with a personalized plan that will help you grow in a way that works for you! Want to know more? DM me for the details and to get in on the introductory price of $147.

If you're not doing this, then you're really missing out on the whole point of social media.

Engagement!

Social media is meant to be social. Engagement is how you make connections that become clients. Sure, you probably (hopefully!) are replying to comments on your content, but how often are you engaging outside of your own content?

If you're not really finding time to engage on social media, then it's probably time to reevaluate your overall plan. Cutting back even just a little on one area of social media (whether it's a little less content, one less platform, etc) can help you make time for engagement.

Not really sure where you could cut back? Not sure where you should be engaging?

Then it might be time for you to check out The Social Growth Game Plan, your personalized plan for growing your business on Facebook and Instagram. Get ready to use social media in a way that still works for you - and still get results! Want to know more? Comment below for the details and to get in on the introductory price of $147!

Does posting on social media for your business have you asking any of these questions?

How often should I post? Where should I post? What should I post?

I cover all of this and more in my new Social Growth Game Plan. There is no one right answer and what I recommend for one person might be totally different than what I recommend for someone else. I help formulate your plan with a lot of input from you about your time and energy, your likes and dislikes, etc.

Are you ready for a personalized, doable plan that will help you grow on social media? DM me to learn more! It's just $147 for a limited time, so get in on this price while you can!

There's your regular feed and stories and lives and reels and....

If you follow some IG experts, they're going to have an exhaustive list of how often you should show up in each place. But let's be real. That's likely not doable for most of us.

Here's what I suggest:

1. Post in your regular feed consistently. That consistency can be whatever works for you - once a week, 2-3 times per week, multiple times a day, etc. Either way, your regular feed is kind of like the base for IG, so show up there at least sometimes.

2. Show up in your Stories at least as often as you do your regular feed. Here's why - a lot of IG users spend more time there, so that's a way to reach more of your audience. At a minimum, share what you are posting in your regular feed or a sort of teaser for it.

As for the other stuff? Do it if it works for you and you like it. If not, don't do it or outsource that part. Plain and simple. Yes, you will get more exposure the more places you show up, but you could also spread yourself thin and burn out. So, again, do it in a way that works for you.

Where are you showing up on IG?

Looking for some help on IG? DM me to chat about how I can help you show up consistently in even more places on the platform.

Are you forgetting to do this one thing that will bring more engagement to your content?

A lot of business owners don't think about outside engagement.

Sure, most of us are good about replying to comments on our own content. That's engagement 101. But a lot of business owners don't realize the key to growth is engaging outside of their content.

If you're on Facebook, engage with your followers on their content and engage in Facebook Groups with your target audience. On Instagram, engage with your followers' content and engage on content that uses your target hashtags.

There are so many places to engage and only so much time in a day. My suggestion is to first nurture your own audience and then, with the rest of the time you have allotted for engagement, pick a few other places to engage with some content.

Could you use some help with your engagement and/or content? DM me to learn how I can help!
