I think most of us are guilty of this as we go through life. Love is so interesting me, simply because at the end of the day we as human beings already have so many issues whether they be mental, emotional or physical.

And then we decide “hey let’s get another person and involve them into every aspect of my life” It’s wild. But we as humans are social creatures, we desire companionship.

So it only makes sense that we are willing to excuse the behaviors of others we want to love.

Some of you may be still in this position, but I’m here to tell you it won’t and doesn’t have to be that way forever.

Sometimes we are victims of circumstance, or sometimes we are simply victims of our own heart.

It took me a long time to get where I am today, and it was fraught with a lot of stress, difficulties and plenty of scars. But I came out the otherside.

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately about past, present and future. I realized not too long ago something very important.

For a lot of years I would grow attached to male figures in my life that I saw as more accomplished or in a better place than I was. I believe I was searching for a father figure in strangers. (Side note, although me and my actual father had a difficult time when I was younger we have bonded as I’ve grown up and he is one of if not my main influences and inspirations)

I believe I did this because I jumped around states so much, didn’t have much stability (of my own design mind you) So I searched for this in other people.

All this to say, it took me a long time to realize that person that I was looking for as a little boy was me all along. I just didn’t know it yet.

You can’t save everyone, nor is it your responsibility. You are your responsibility, give yourself what you need, when you need it. Nurture your inner child, especially if it didn’t get much when you were an actual child. Grow, learn and become a person that you as child would have run to in times of need or comfort.

I cannot express to you the excitement I have for this year. I am unsure as to the exact reason why this year feels entirely different, but it does.

Personally I feel like this October will be a transformative month for a lot of people for different reasons.

I consider October to have always been my “new year” rather than Jan 1st.

Hopefully it can also be that for some of you.
