Afro combs have been discovered in several notable tombs of ancient Egyptian rulers, Providing evidence of African cultural practices among the elite. These combs, often associated with African grooming traditions, And have become significant in discussions about the African identity of Egypt.

1. Tomb of Tutankhamun (KV62): Discovered by Howard Carter in 1922, Tutankhamun’s tomb in the Valley of the Kings contained numerous artifacts, including Afro combs. The presence of these combs is significant, as they are commonly linked to African cultures, supporting the view of Egypt’s African roots.

2. Tomb of Queen Tiye (KV46): Queen Tiye, wife of Amenhotep III and mother of Akhenaten, was buried in a tomb in the Valley of the Kings. Her tomb contained several Afro combs, further reinforcing the notion that African cultural traditions, including grooming practices, were prevalent among Egypt's royal elite.

3. Tomb of Nefertari (QV66): Nefertari, the Great Royal Wife of Ramesses II, was buried in the Valley of the Queens in a tomb adorned with beautiful artwork and numerous artifacts. Numerous Afro combs were found in her tomb, The presence of grooming tools and other culturally significant items further points to the African influence on Egypt’s royal class.

These findings in royal tombs help demonstrate that Ancient Egyptian were Blāck Africa. And it underscore the broader African context of Egyptian civilization, which was located in northeastern Africa and influenced by a variety of African cultural practices, especially in the context of royal and elite burial customs.

Look at Michael Jackson in this photograph. What is written on his shirt? Olodum. Please fact-check me: This picture was shot while filming the Michael Jackson short film, They Don't Care About Us, in Salvador, the capital of Bahia, Brazil.

About 80% of Bahia's population claims African ancestry, with more than 60% of them self-identifying as Lukumi Yoruba.

In Bahia, God is often referred to as Olodum, which is a short form of the Lukumi Yoruba word, Olodumare. Go ahead and fact-check me.

While spending time in Salvador's favelas (a favela is a slum, shanty town, or ghetto), Michael Jackson sought out some Ifa adherents who use drums for their worship and music. He had heard about them before he went to Brazil.

They have a headquarters in Salvador, known as 'Casa do Olodum', or House of Olodumare, in the Pelourinho district of Salvador. The collective also has a school, Escola Olodum, which is Portuguese for Olodum school.

The venue where Olodum performs is called Ilê Aiyê, which in Lukumi Yoruba literally means house of life. They did not even bother trying to make the name sound Portuguese. Ilê Aiyê is straight out of Ilê Ifê.

Speakers of deep and pure Lukumi would know that in Lukumi, Ilê Aiyê means Planet Earth.

Many Lagosians are actually the offspring of returnee slaves from Bahia. If you see a Lagosian with the names Da Costa, Dos Santos, Pinheiro, De Souza, Da Silva, Pedro, etc., they are descendants of returnees from Bahia in Brazil.

Michael Jackson visited this Casa do Olodum in 1996. They told him of their ancestry and belief in God through Ifa divination, which they call Candomblé. Michael Jackson then spontaneously decided to wear an Olodum shirt to symbolise solidarity with them. He had prearranged to feature them in the short film.

You will notice three colours on the shirt Mr. Jackson was wearing: Green, Yellow, and Red on a White background. This is deliberate.

The white background represents Obatalá. The green stands for Orunmila,

History of the Maasai people in Kenya

The Maasai originated in the lower Nile Valley and migrated south in the 15th century, settling in southern Kenya and northern Tanzania around 1750 CE.

Their territory expanded in the 19th century to cover much of the Great Rift Valley. Known for their colorful dress and warrior skills, the Maasai traditionally relied on cattle herding for sustenance.

However, urbanization and the establishment of game reserves have reduced their grazing lands, leading to a more sedentary lifestyle that includes farming and purchasing food.

Man Kills His 4-Year-Old Son In Edo under influence of hard drugs

The Edo State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Theophilus Osazuwa for allegedly killing his four-year-old son.

The command said Osazuwa was suspected to have committed the act while under the influence of hard drugs.

The spokesperson for the command, Moses Yamu, revealed in a statement on Wednesday night that the incident, which resulted in the death of the four-year-old boy, occurred at about 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

He stated that Osazuwa had just returned to his apartment at Ogbeson Quarters, off Benin-Agbor Road in Benin City, when he suddenly fell into a trance.

While in a trance, the suspect reportedly screamed, “Holy Ghost fire,” grabbed the four-year-old boy, and slammed him against the wall, resulting in the child’s death.

Yamu stated, “Edo Police Command has arrested one Theophilus Osazuwa of Ogbeson Quarters off Benin-Agbor Road, Benin City, for the murder of his four-year-old son named Testimony Osazuwa.

“The suspect was said to have arrived at his home on 24/12/2024 at about 1230 hrs, went berserk screaming ‘Holy Ghost fire,’ then reached for the four-year-old boy and slammed him to the wall. The child was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the young man who is known for the consumption of illicit (colloquial, ice, etc.) substances must have acted under the influence of the same.”

He stated that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Umoru Ozigi, cautioned youths against the dangers of consuming illicit substances and drugs, emphasising their harmful effects on health and the potential risks they pose to both their lives and the safety of others.

Meet the world's deadliest rat, which can kill an elephant with one bite

Predators beware! The world’s deadliest rat carries enough toxin to kill an elephant

Did you know there's a rat poisonous enough to kill an elephant?

Lophiomys imhausi, also known as the crested rat, the maned rat, and the African crested rat, is a deadly rarity says Aoife Glass.

The crested rat is the only known poisonous rodent, and the only known mammal to sequester plant toxins for use as a defense mechanism. One bite is enough to kill.

What does the crested rat look like?
Adult crested rats grow to between 360mm and 530mm head to tail. The small head is covered in short, black fur, while the body and tail have a thick grey and white undercoat with longer guard hairs tipped white or black, together giving the impression of a small, fluffy skunk.

A mane of longer black and white banded hairs stretches the length of the rat from the head to the base of the tail, and this is the crest or mane from which the animal gets its name. When it’s threatened, this mane erects, exposing a band down each side of the body, bordered in white, with specially adapted hairs covering glandular skin.

This has two purposes. The first, like a skunk, is to display warning colouration. The second is to reveal those specially adapted hairs, which contain enough toxin to make any animal that decides to take a bite extremely ill, if not fatally poisoned.

Where does the crested rat live?
Sometimes called the African crested rat, this species lives in forests, savannah and shrubland, favouring rocky terrain, and nesting in hollow tree trunks, holes and hollows. Populations have been observed in Somalia, Ethiopia, Sudan, United Republic of Tanzania, Keny, Djibouti and Eritrea.

Crested rats seem to be mostly solitary, sometimes living within a small family group of male, female and offspring. Female crested rats have small litters of between one to three offspring.

What does the crested rat eat?
Despite its fearsome reputation, the crested rat’s diet of choice mostly consists of plant material such as leaves and fruit, though it has been known to eat meat, insects and root vegetables.

Unusually, it has stomach physiology that’s similar to ruminants such as cattle; a four-chambered stomach with plenty of digesting bacteria which allows it to process and breakdown the food it consumes. This fact makes it unique amongst Moroidea, the super family to which all rodents belong.

Why is the crested rat so deadly?
The other unique element of the crested rat is its killer abilities. It’s the only known rodent that uses toxins from another species as a defence mechanism, and it does this via some incredible evolutionary adaptations.

First, Lophiomys imhausi feeds on the bark of the African poison arrow tree, Acokanthera schimperi. The bark, as well as the roots, stems, leaves and seeds of this tree, contain acovenoside A and ouabaine; these are heart stimulating chemicals, called cardenolides. In small doses, these types of chemicals can be used for medicinal purposes, but at larger doses can have catastrophic effects; vomiting, convultions, breathing difficulties and even cardiac arrest.

Next, L. imhausi licks the hairs along the glandular skill patches either side of its crest, depositing saliva infused with those cardiotonic glycosides from the African poison arrow tree. At a glance, these hairs look much like those on other areas of the crested rat, but they have a very particular structure; a honey-comb outer layer, with an inner layer of long vertical fibres. This makes them particularly suited to absorbing liquid, dispersing it along its interior, and storing or ‘sequestering’ it.

How does the crested rat kill?
If a would-be predator ignores the warning colouration and tries to attack, the exposed hairs will release these toxic compounds into the mouth, and very quickly into the bloodstream. With natural predators including the honey badger, caracal, serval, hyena and leopard, an effective deterrent is a definite evolutionary advantage.

Just how toxic could the crested rat be?
Arrows treated with the same cardenolide toxins have floored full-grown elephants, so potentially very deadly indeed. However, it’s not in the rat’s interest to kill every predator that attacks; instead, it ideally needs to make them so poorly that they learn that crested rats aren’t on the menu in the future.

Casualties do happen though, and dogs that have attacked crested rats have been known to die; those lucky enough to survive display, unsurprisingly, a strong fear response at any future encounters.

The crested rat also has a particularly thick dermis or skin, making it very resistant to bites, and a very long, strong and flexible spine with four extra vertebrae.

Why isn’t the crested rat poisoned by its diet?
The short answer is science doesn’t exactly know the specific mechanism or adaptation that allows it to consume poison without succumbing itself.

However, it is known that rodents from the Moroidia super family have a slight biochemical variation that means they are more resistant to this type of chemical, so that may be why the crested rat is able to survive levels of the toxin that are fatal to its predators. Another theory is the bacteria contained in its chambered stomach may include a type that can break down cardenolides safely in the gut.

Is it endangered?
According to the IUCN Red List, the crested rat is listed as ‘least concern’. However, researchers have concluded that due to low population density, low reproductive rates and a relatively long life-cycle, this might not be the full picture.

While populations exist in protected areas, the woodland and forest they live in are increasingly threatened by logging, and a loss of habitat is likely to impact the species’ long-term success.

Azerbaijan Confirms Russian Missile Shot Down Plane In Kazakhstan

A passenger plane of Azerbaijan Airlines crashed near the Kazakh city of Aktau because it was attacked by Russian air defense, Euronews reports.

According to Azerbaijani government sources, the Russians hit the plane with a surface-to-air missile.

Euronews' interlocutors clarify that the missile was fired at the plane while it was flying over Grozny, where drone activity was recorded. It exploded near the plane, and its fragments hit passengers and crew members.

Also, according to journalists' sources, the damaged plane was not allowed to land at Russian airports when the pilots requested an emergency landing. The plane was ordered to fly across the Caspian Sea toward Aktau.

Euronews found out that the plane's GPS navigation system was jammed throughout the flight over the sea.

Afterward, photos were posted online showing that the plane's skin was damaged by shrapnel.

Against this background, the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Andrii Kovalenko, emphasized that the plane was shot down by a Russian anti-aircraft missile system. This happened because the Russians did not close the airspace over Grozny during the drone attack on the city.

“He's Cursed; A Foundation Built On Fr@ud Never Stands”–Sky B's Former Producer Explains Why Arstiste Can Never Rise Again In Music

"So many people do not know Sky B and I (X-B) were musical groupies like Style-Plus and Ajebo Hustlers.

“I come from Akwa Ibom and I was his tenant living in a one room apartment in his father's compound in Port Harcourt.

“We recorded all songs together in the pray for me Album. If you listen carefully you will hear my name in almost all the intros.

“I took the chorus of "My Baby" the hit song and the solo part.

“We have recorded everything together and were hustling to get it wasked (the normal way of launching an album way back)

“Sky B sold a piece of his father's land and launched the music alone. It happened that someone who knows us as partners called me on the very day he was doing the album launch, asking me why I am not there with my man to celebrate our music.

“I instantly burst into tears realising that I have been betrayed and stabbed from the back.

“I was just a poor boy who is his tenant living in his house, every effort to reach him proved abortive as Sky B gave me a notice to leave his father's house.

“Nigerians and the world felt Sky B was the one who did the solo and rap in all his songs, but many Port Harcourt artistes who knew me and him together just saw him as an impostor trying to mimic my role in his songs.

“I left him to God to fight my battle and as you can see, it ended up in shame.

“Sky B betrayed me, that betrayal lives on with him.

“Imagine Lucky Udu even trying to help him get back, created a page for him and he uses the page as collateral to take cr on loan, who does that?

“A foundation built on fra never stands, look at his life and see how it has ended.”

Migingo Island !

Migingo Island, in Lake Victoria, is a piece of rock crammed with corrugated metal shelters, home to hundreds of fishermen from across east Africa.

Migingo Island is less than 2,000 square metres, and according to Ugandan police, more than 500 people ilive there, making it the smallest inhabited island on the continent.

It may be small, with its tiny port, few bars, and an open-air casino, but Kenya🇰🇪 and Uganda🇺🇬 have been arguing over it for a decade.

This photograph, taken in the early 1900s, transports you to Awka (present-day Anambra State, Nigeria).

It portrays an igbo elder, adorning his head with the okpu agha, the w@r helmet. In his hand, he grasps a sturdy ekpeke, a woven shield.
These aren't mere decorations; they're a warrior's full regalia, a powerful symbol of valor and a window into the Igbo martial traditions.

A brief interesting history of Calabar ..

A photo captures the Obong of Calabar Orok Edem-Odo also known as Eyamba IX was the Obong of Calabar 17 April 1880 to 21 November 1896.

Calabar Originally referred to as Ata Akpa, the city we call Calabar today was a collection of Efik settlements which served as the departure point for slaves captured in the hinterland and exchanged for guns, clothes, beads and ammunition.

It’s believed that the name Calabar was coined by the Portuguese explorer Diogo Cao during his voyages of exploration in the 15th century. The name supposedly derives from the Portuguese word calabbara, which means calm bar, an allusion to the calm bar where ships were able to weigh anchor.

Located on the eastern bank of the Qua River, Calabar has a unique monarchy in Nigeria. They are crowned twice! Traditionally and via a christian ceremony. Calabar kings didn’t oppose the intrusion of the colonialist into their territory.

The people of the town signed a treaty of friendship and protection with Queen Victoria of England in 1884. She had earlier sent the regalia for the coronation of King Archibong Ill in 1878. Calabar was actually the administrative capital of the territory that would become southern Nigeria until 1906.

The city was the first to host a football game in Nigeria in 1904 and is today the undisputed tourism capital of Nigeria with an annual colourful Carnival held in December..
