Another Illusion Studios alumni that is MIA. This was Illusion Studios Preview insert when you bought our first Ashcan. The cover artist is Jeff Schaeffer, from Ft. Wayne, IN. They are his characters for the book Fraxius. If you know Jeff, send him our way!

And if you can't read the Preview pages, good!!! The spelling mistakes made on them are laughable 😂

Over the course of the past year I have been searching the Internet for Illusion Studios members, to try to reconnect and let them know we are planning on getting all those Books published. Tonight I looked for writer Randy Sutton (with no luck) and Bill Rowland, who came up with the original draft for Bluestar. Sadly, I think I found Bill, who seems to have passed away. Can anyone out there confirm this is him? This obituary sounds like Bill as he did live in New Haven, Indiana. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think I am :(

When Illusion Studios was running full steam in the 90's, they had some GREAT creative teams working on Comic Books. But often overlooked are the artist that contributed to Pin-Ups and Covers. Today we are spotlighting artist Walter Sablotny III, who provided some great works on Illusion Studios characters from Jonathan Savior, Eddie Breaker (Awry), Ebony, Jury and Visage. His Comic book career continues :)

Dragonfyre Studios UPDATE!!!!
Still fighting with Amazon to get Irokus x Atomic Rex: Avatars of the Apocalypse Part 2 up. The Preview Copy they sent us looks great but still having problems with them saying it can't be printed???

While exploring through computer files, I came across this Bio written for Visage artist Steve Vasquez. Tweaked it a little and thought Illusion Studios fans & Steve might get a kick out of it. Also came across some Visage artwork from Steve and Dragonfyre Studios own Frank Parr. The scans aren't great, but I couldn't resist sharing them with you all. My favorite one being the last one with the vampire Richard Sham standing over the co**se of Visage, holding the severed head of Sam. Possibly the one time Steve didn't mind drawing "that damn cat" 😂 -Wayne

Les Garner would be the fist penciler to draw a Jonathan Savior Comic Book. While going through files on the ol'computer, I came across these scans of his early work. I figured Savior fans would enjoy seeing these paintings.

We're getting closer to announcing a release date for Jonathan Savior: Hell & Back from the Illusion Studios Comic Universe! This pressing will be in the original intended Black and White format. Color Version should be out next year :)

As 2023 comes to a close, with the Jonathan Savior series almost ready for print, it's time to announce the next Trade Paperback in the Illusion Studios Comic Universe... Dragonstrike Prime!

This series has an odd beginning. After placing a flyer on Books, Comics & Things (Ft. Wayne, IN) wall, Ralph Burns calls me and says I have to meet this group from Huntington, IN. They are good enough to work for Marvel! Illusion Studios had already agreed to provide Hall of Heroes Comics with the next 3 issues of their series.

Upon meeting the group, they pitched 2 books, AlienForce & Renegades. But when we got up to leave after the meeting, I noticed a piece of paper sticking out from under the couch. I could see the top of a cool looking lizard/ dragon type character, which turned out to be Silverblade.

After pulling out the group picture from under the couch, I asked who they were. I really liked 2 of the characters, Silverblade and Reptor. Apparently I wasn't suppose to see that picture and the creators scrambled to tell me about the characters.

After leaving, the creators came up with a story and Dragtonstrike Prime was born. More interesting, DSP was never intended to be a top tier Comic Book, that was suppose to be AlienForce. But after artist Jon Blume and Steve Blume joined the studio, we weren't sure what series to put them on. They had potential, but weren't quite ready. So, it was decided to give them Dragonstrike Prime.

Boy were we surprised when the DSP characters started to get real popular at the Illusion Studios show tables. Jon & Steve both improved their art skills immensely in a very shot period of time and the series that was meant as a throwaway book became one of the studios most popular titles!!!

IILLUSION STUDIOS COMIC BOOK UNIVERSE UPDATE: Jonathan Savior #1 and #2 re-lettering is complete! Frank Parr is working on the missing pages for the epilogue of Jonathan Savior #4. Picture below is by Sean Carter & Frank Parr, featuring Kelso King (based on a character from a short story by Wendy Smith) who makes his debut in JS #4. Not sure who colored this one, maybe Mitch Ames?

Recon 1, one of the many books from the Illusion Studios Comic Book Universe that never saw print. These books tied into the Bluestar Sc-Fi part of that Universe. An Action/Comedy book featuring Tailgunner, Blade Runner and Bull. The cover to issue #1 was done by Frank Parr. If you check the upper right hand corner, you can see Frank Parr, myself, Barbi Smith and Tim Roberts. We loved putting ourselves in the Comics, lol. A tradition that carried over to Dragonfyre Studios :)

Over the last couple weeks, Frank Parr has been hard at work preparing the last Jonathan Savior book, #4 for print. We've had a hard time tracking down the script but finally found it in a box...and this picture was there too, by Art of K. Brandon Wilt .

Morbid Angel would have been a major player for The Reverend, as he fought against the Illusion Studios Horror Heroes in The Price mini series. Just seeing this picture makes me wanna write this character in a battle with Savior!

For those who don't remember anything about The Price, it was a mini series that included all the Heroes in the Illusion Studios darker books, Visage, Jonathan Savior, Lion Heart and Daniel Kincade from DemonSword. The last issue would of had Daniel inserting the Demonsword into the Tree Of Knowledge...whick Satan took to Hell as a trophy. When that happens, we would of started adding color to the book. Once the color hit the edge of Eden and touched Hell, it would freeze it.

From The Price on, all our books would be printed in color. It was an ambitious project that would of have brought an epic ending to our first year of publishing. - Wayne

Looks like more Dragonfyre Studios artwork being used without our consent. We did this cover for the Generation Metal reissues of this CD. The B&W cover has the Red & Yellow parts printed on Clear Overlay to give the cover a 3D effect. The other version has a Full Color Cover done by Frank Parr. Generation Metal never issued this as a Digi.
