❄️ The shifting seasons which shape us...

The TL;DR of this post is that I'm hosting a webinar with BRF Ministries tomorrow. We're taking an hour online to talk all things Biblical wellbeing. I wanted to write something about where I feel you might be if you want to join, but I remembered some words I'd written before and decided they say it best (you see, for the most part, in my 15ish years writing online, the message hasn't changed...)

***

The winter months have me longing for the sunshine. I remember how, every year, I take for granted leaving the house without a jacket when radiator season finally expires. Seasons do that, don’t they? They compel us to recall what once was when we find ourselves without. Seasons of lack help us to appreciate seasons of abundance more fully. We remember where we’ve been. We realise that the tangible experience we struggled through was something put in place to teach us. Seasons of sorrow provide us deeper laughter in our seasons of joy. We remember what pain once felt like and how good it feels not to feel it today.

You know, if we could eavesdrop on some of the conversations which God has about us, we’d laugh in disbelief like Sarah did (Genesis 18:10-12). We’d question how our ashes or perhaps just our mess and muddle could ever be made into something beautiful, despite the fact that’s what we’re promised (Isaiah 61:3). Seasons have a funny way of doing that, though. They lull us into believing that where we are now is where we’ll always be...

I think that sometimes we’ve got to almost ignore how real our present feels in order to take hold of God’s promises for our future. I don’t mean to suggest we make ourselves void of emotion, not at all. Emotions are important. But remember what I said earlier? If we could listen in on some of what God has in store for our lives, I don’t think we’d believe Him. I think that’s why these seasons are put in place for us to walk through. We’re just asked to faithfully put one foot in front of the other and step from darkness into light.

Just because we might be piling layer upon layer now to brave the cold, that doesn’t mean we’re never going to feel the sun’s rays on our faces again. The reality of your present doesn’t negate the possibilities in your future. And in God, those possibilities are endless (Genesis 18:14, Ephesians 3:20). So trust Him, not the season He’s given you to walk in.

If you're ready for a reset - an opportunity to reconnect with your Maker as well as your mission (however 'simple' you feel that mission might be), getting some biblical teaching alongside practical input, I'd love to invite you to join me tomorrow evening. (Afternoon if you're state side.) Click the link below to join me and BRF Ministries on the webinar.

Let me know in the comments 👀 What’s YOUR response when it seems like God is trying to get your attention? Run away in hiding or meet the potential prompting with curiosity? Importantly, do you know it’s God trying to speak to you when he is? 💭

Turns out it’s today! Here’s a quote from mine.

I wrote Finding Flourishing after finding myself in the coaching/personal development industry with barely anyone talking about wellbeing and flourishing from a biblical perspective - from a perspective which doesn’t simply gloss over the difficulty life can present us with, but instead, brings God into the picture - from every angle. I’m convinced God cares about human flourishing.

Enjoy Finding Flourishing - Time and Pace for your work-life wellbeing.

Keep going. Keep growing. 💜

Thankful for another year and a wonderful day. Excited and expectant for the year ahead. Decided to write some of what I’m going for more and less of as I embark on a new year of life. Grateful. 🙏🏽
