7 pictures for 7 days in Corfu

1. Sitting in silence. Admiring the view. Listening to the sound of water. Fully present and beyond grateful. It’s the Monastery of Vlacherna you’re seeing in the picture.

2. Imagine seeing that view from the comfort of your bed. I can’t describe that kind of serenity. It was by far the best view I’ve had.

3. Does it need any words? I’m sorry, I don’t have any.

4. I could barely contain the joy I felt in my heart seeing those cats take a blissful nap while still being on duty to protect all souvenirs.

5. Olive trees. I need them. And I will have them. They can be indoor plants, right? Olive trees give me the impression they carry ancient wisdom. It’s like they’ve seen it all before and made peace with it. Don’t know how much sense this makes, but I truly enjoy looking at them.

6. I was gifted jewelry a while ago. I loved wearing these ones with the celestial motifs most. They made me feel most myself.

Btw, they have an ongoing summer campaign ending on Sunday. Spend 39 euro and get 12% off plus one gift. Or spend 59 euro and get 12% off plus 2 gifts. I can share more details & links if you’re interested.

7. Having a cup of coffee on a quiet beach. What more could I want in this life?

There have been years when a holiday was an impossible dream. So I’m grateful for having experienced so much joy. Such a privilege…

“The secret to life is to put yourself in the right lighting.

For some, it’s a Broadway spotlight; for others, a lamplit desk.

Use your natural powers — of persistence, concentration, and insight — to do work you love and work that matters. Solve problems. make art, think deeply.”

Susan Cain

I believe growth happens inside of your comfort zone too. It’s where it starts, at least. For me that place is warm, alluring, safe and exciting.

I grow in my own bubble by paying attention to what interests me and studying it for as long as I want.

But I’ve also stepped outside of my comfort zone to reach growth.

Sometimes it was incredibly beneficial and eye-opening. Other times, the same risks felt painful, confusing, humbling and shallow.

I’ve finally realized what made the two experiences completely opposite.

It’s the difference between being pushed to do something and being drawn to it.

Both are scary.

And for me the beneficial kind of challenge is only the one that I choose to take not to prove myself to others, but because I believe I can do more.

It’s not to fight another’s battle, but to defend my own values.

It’s not to fit in but to express myself.

“I wasn’t built for this/
My head can’t make any damn sense of this/
So it sings.”

These lyrics from ‘s song “Meant to Stay Hid” have brought me so much comfort and understanding when I needed them most.

Although I’m feeling better now, I still relate to the feeling of not fitting in whenever someone mentions it in DMs.

We may not be able to change the world, but we can tweak it to make it more welcoming.

It starts with you. You have so much to discover about yourself if you give yourself a chance first. Later on, you can also educate some people around you in terms of introversion.

You can learn to be more honest with yourself. And seek what you truly need: a quiet moment, a work environment where you’re given time to think, an afternoon spent with a good book, a close friend you can have meaningful chats with, a corner in your room dedicated to creative thoughts inside your mind. A tiny space where you can be your true self.

A quiet moment.

Oh, man, where do I begin?

Have you ever shared your feelings only to deeply regret it the very next moment?

You might have felt completely misunderstood, judged or… simply weird.

Been there.

If you’re anything like me, before anything else, you might need a lot of time to process feelings alone and understand them.

Take that time.

After you’re done processing, you might see no point
in talking about your feelings. And that’s okay too.

But if you do wanna share, don’t let your past experiences stop you.

I know how bad memories can stop you from sharing anything at all.

You might reach the conclusion that you don’t have anything important to say. Or you’re too much or not enough. And that no one truly gets you.

Trust that through every interaction you’ve had, you’ve learned who creates a safe space for you to be real.

Say as much or as little you want. Let it be imperfect. Allow yourself to experience intense emotions as you recall events. And don’t judge yourself in the process.

You are human. Your story matters, and it will be heard by the right person.

Special thanks to my friend who listened to my story last night of how I recognized someone’s speech patterns after not hearing him in like 15 years. And that’s only the tip of the iceberg. Ok, byeee.

I’m listening to “Overcoming Toxic Emotions: A Practical Guide to Building Better Relationships” by Leah Guy.

And I heard this part I thought I’d share:

“Your story is a critical part of your life experience. It’s a combination of the events that happened in childhood through your teen years that formed your experience of reality.

Your story is not false because it’s actually what happened to you from your perspective. […]

Your truth is the state of self in the reality of now.”

I did think about this recently.

I don’t know when exactly it happened, but I know I felt dual.

On one side, there was a younger part of me that was automatically nervous. And on the other, I felt a more mature side who has been in similar uncertain situations and still did great.

Not sure if this makes any sense, but it was like me having my back. It helped reframe the entire experience.

Hope this helps you too!

I hate conflict.

If there’s a way to avoid it, my first instinct is to find that way. FAST.

But there are times when conflict is inevitable. And then I usually hold a coherent speech filled with polite and solid arguments…

…in my mind.
…while taking a shower.
…hours after “the conflict” anyone barely remembers.

Sounds familiar?

Finding the right words you want to say on the spot can feel like an extreme sport.

And you need more time to put the pieces together.
But you don’t have time. So what do you do?

These are the things that helped me lately:

It’s okay to explain things you are already 100% sure everyone knows already (sometimes they don’t).

Share your side of the story and how it makes you feel.

Ask for clarification. We all see things differently. Communication is imperfect.

If you never, ever wish to “attack” a person, say it in a way that makes it clear it’s not personal, but it’s certain words and actions that bother you.

Whatever you’ve been meaning to do, do it now. It’s not too late.

“His heart has a draft. It lets in light. It lets in storms. It lets in everything.”

~ V.E. Schwab, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue

When you’re sensitive or carry a trace of humanity inside your heart, it’s impossible not to see any problems in the world.

And it’s not only that you see them. You feel them deeply and yourself under their weight.

This can be quite overwhelming. Especially when there’s nothing you can do on the spot.

But do you know what I think?

The fact that you see the wrong thing is exactly what makes you the right person to come up with a solution.

And it may not happen overnight. It might take years. I’m thinking of friends who decided to study psychology and help others (driven by how much pain they felt from being misunderstood).

It may also happen through small gestures of great importance. Bringing smiles on others’ faces until you also feel the warmth inside.

It could be a poem you published. A song you’ve written. Someone you’ve listened to.

It’s you, people who DEEPLY care who make a difference in this world. Thank you for being you!

He doesn’t remember saying this, but I do. A friend of mine once said “maybe it’s not about forgetting memories. Maybe it’s about learning to live with them.”

It’s the same for present things in your life you can’t get rid of. Maybe it’s all about integrating them in a way that works for you.

Everything that you need is already inside. 🎶

I’ve recently met and I instantly resonated with the lyrics in her music.

It’s my absolute pleasure and honour to introduce you to her work of art.

The inspiration behind this song was the feeling of wonder and joy when discovering we all have the ability to heal internally.

She says this is what happens when we choose to co-create our lives with universal spirit.

Her new album “Around the world and back to you” will be out on the 10th of March.

It feels like everyone knew better. Anyone would have done a better job. So why couldn’t you do it/ say it/ make it?

This is when the impostor syndrome kicks in big time. It won’t take long until you start questioning other aspects of yourself.

Sounds familiar?

If so, it’s because you’re not the only one feeling sooooo much shame. We all go through such an experience, we just have different ways of dealing with it.

So here are some things to remember:

You are not defined by your mistakes.
Be gentle with yourself.
Seek support in someone you trust.
What feels like the worst thing ever might be a great stepping stone in your progress.
Everyone has moments of shame.
