The Homestead Rodeo, Davie Pro Rodeo, and the Shrine Pro Rodeo in Ocala, are fan favorites for traditional rodeo events. Outstanding Florida horse show venues include Wellington International, White Fences, World Equestrian Center, HITS Ocala at Post Time Farm, Florida Horse Park, Fox Lea Farm, and TerraNova. These venues feature USEF and USDF rated horse shows throughout the year and attract competitors from around the world. Florida is also one of the largest breeders of racehorses in the United States. The Ocala area in North Central Florida supports hundreds of beautiful thoroughbred and sport horse farms. Many Florida bred racehorses can be frequently found in the winner's circle at major racetracks. Florida is now the epicenter for American polo with the United States Polo Association headquarters in Wellington, Florida at the National Polo Center. Florida hosts several quality polo clubs throughout the state including Ocala Polo Club, Sarasota Polo Club, and Vero Beach Polo Club. Florida boasts two live thoroughbred racetracks, Gulfstream Park and Tampa Bay Downs. Both offer live racing and simulcast as well as a casino at Gulfstream Park and a poker room at Tampa Bay Downs. The 2024 Winter Spectacular Show Series at World Equestrian Center – Ocala is gearing up to be the most exciting yet, promising a range of new enhancements in the coming weeks of 2024 as well as more than $6.5 million in prize money. The 12-week series, which runs January 3 through March 24, 2024, caters to equestrians of all skill levels, from Walk-Trot divisions to national hunter derbies to Fédération Equestre International (FEI) CSIO5* grand prix.

This limited-edition lithograph by the late equine artist Christine Picavet portrays Secretariat galloping in his pasture at Claiborne Farm. It is one of several fantastic pieces in our 2023 Secretariat Festival Auction ending this Sunday, November 19 at 8:00 p.m. EST.

Other treasures being auctioned include a photo of Secretariat hand-signed by five members of the Meadow Stable team (amazing!), an uncashed and triple-signed parimutuel ticket from Secretariat's victory in the 1973 Man o' War Stakes; halters worn by Beholder, Tapit, and Afleet Alex; and much more.
