Spent the weekend putting the new Mad Max bait from NedWacky to the test—and man, it delivered. It’s wild to see a creative spark go from a napkin sketch to a fully finished bait—and now I’m fishing the production version right here in Tennessee creeks.

From big smallmouth to feisty little rock bass, this thing flat-out catches them all. The profile, movement, and bite-triggering action are dialed in. Big or small, they just can’t seem to resist.

Watching fish react to a bait born from an idea over breakfast? That’s about as full-circle as it gets.

Found this at the creek today — anyone know what it might be?

I’m thinking it could be a capstone for a bow drill. It has a smooth, rounded indentation that looks worn from use, like it might’ve held a spindle. I considered it being a small mortar, but it seems too compact and shallow for that purpose.

If you’ve got experience with primitive tools or artifacts, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Always fascinated by what shows up out here — drop your best guess below!

They weren’t cruising — just hunkered down, riding it out. Easy to miss if you’re not paying attention. The creek might seem peaceful, but it always keeps you on your toes.

Caught a creek smallie today, but she wasn’t going down without a fight! Right as I reached to land her, she juked me like an NFL running back and shot between my legs.

I ended up doing a one-footed twirl like I was auditioning for Dancing with the Smallies — rod between the legs, leg in the air, trying not to fall into the creek. 😅

But shoutout to the MVPs of the moment: my K Custom Fishing Rod held strong through the chaos, and the NedWacky mini tube in that HYBRID – Electric Motor Oil color sealed the deal!

Still trying to crack the post-spawn code… 😅🎣

Man, this post-spawn phase has me scratching my head. I’ve been throwing just about everything, and it’s still hit or miss. Managed to hook into one solid 15.5" today, which felt like a trophy the way things have been going lately. 😆

Funny enough, the mini buzzbait got the most attention. I wasn’t expecting topwater to be the ticket, but hey—sometimes the fish make the rules. Still trying to figure out where they’re staging and how they want it. One day they’re scattered, the next they ghost you entirely.

I know it’s all part of the challenge, and I’m enjoying every second of the puzzle—but man, these post-spawn fish are something else.
