The Environmental Working Group published a study that found 4 out of 5 Americans sampled in the study (sample size of 96) had chlormequat in their urine.
Chlormequat was also found in 92% of the oat based foods they bought to test in May 2023, to include Quaker Oats and Cheerios.
Animal studies have shown a link between chlormequat (which is used to regulate plant growth—to prevent plants from bending over and make them easier to harvest) and reduced fertility, reproductive system harm, and altered fetal growth).
Currently, chlormequat is only allowed to be used on ornamental plants in the U.S.—-not food crops. However, since 2018 its use has been allowed on crops imported to the U.S.
Last year, the manufacturer (Taminco) of chlormequat submitted an application to allow its use on barley, oat, triticale, and wheat on U.S. grown crops…the proposal is open for public comment in docket EPA-HQ-OPP-2021-0290 at www.regulations.gov and will close May 2023.

We are entering St. Patty’s season, or should we say green food dye season!☘️

Just that little bit of autonomy, that sense of independence, acceptance of intuition.
We’re learning something new and useful every single day, from ourselves and from each other.
What’s one thing, if you could take the leap, that you want to learn how to do for yourself? ⬇️📝
