SUNSEASKY is pleased to announce the addition of Requator to the label’s roster. Requator is the electronic music duo of childhood friends Mokhov and use1ess. Reuniting in Bali after 22 years (hence the portmanteau name of reunion and equator), they combined a laptop and hardware synth studio. The results are uplifting and cosmic tunes inspired by the magical island.

Their debut album KosMo (another portmanteau of their names Kostia and Mokhov) is being released this April and will appeal to fans of Boards of Canada, Four Tet, Röyksopp, and Bonobo among others.

SUNSEASKY is proud to welcome Cosmos in Collision to the label’s roster. Cosmos in Collision is the musical journey of Italian musician and producer Riccardo Spaggiari, which explores the lines between ambient-electronica and post-rock.

Through a flow of sound crafted by layers of shimmering synths and ethereal guitars in an intricate rhythmic texture, Riccardo creates an emotional electronic soundscape.

Since 2016 Cosmos in Collision has released music with labels like Shore Dive Records and En:peg Digital. The artist’s latest release and label debut entitled ‘The Passage of Time’ will be released this April.

The String & Return is a 4-piece indie rock outfit from Kansas City, Missouri, originally emerging in 1999 to play their first shows and record their first album, ‘INVISIBLE CITY’, released on SUNSEASKY in early 2001. The band followed up in 2005 with ‘WHAT CHEER’ on Anodyne Records before entering an extended hiatus during which members recorded and performed in projects such as In The Pines and the Caves. Occasionally reuniting to play shows throughout successive years, the band released an EP of odds and ends called ‘LOST SONGS’ in 2015 until eventually reaffirming full-time status by touring with slowcore legends Idaho in Summer 2021 and recording new songs. Enduring with a sound recently described as “slowly evolving, heartbreakingly beautiful, and explosively punctuated,” Placidyls marks The String & Return's first studio album in over 18 years.

Havstrakt, which means “coastal area”, is the latest release by electronic ambient producer Snufmumriko. According to the artist, the tracks were inspired by the liminal border realm between land and sea. Field recordings, re-sampled synthesizers, heavily processed vinyl samples and additional treatments were used to create the album.

Also included on the release is a stellar collection of remixes from a lineup of equally talented artists: Moss Covered Technology, Gallery Six, Mokhov, Purl, Innesti, awakened souls, Crystalline Reflections, Ships On Fire, and Warmth. The release was mastered by Loz Grover (Boc Scadet, Ships on Fire, Touched Music) and tied beautifully together with photography + artwork by resident designer Timothée Mathelin aka shift.

SUNSEASKY is proud to welcome Snufmumriko to our roster. Based in Gothenburg, Sweden, Ingmar Wennerberg is a producer who sculpts his sound from field recordings and old records, with the aim of creating sonic environments which both work as background music and reward active listening. We were completely ensconced by the dreamy, texturally rich environments and dub flavored landscapes on 2019’s Sekunder, eoner (Dronarivm), which quickly became a staple at label headquarters and near just about any stretch or body of water we could find. So much so we relocated the label from Illinois and the Midwest to Florida’s Emerald Coast. Fitting then that Havstrakt, which means “coastal area”, will be the twelfth release under the Snufmumriko moniker. Out today is ‘The Fade to Afterlife,’ the 2nd album from neo-classical electronica artist Gunnar Spardel. The album was mastered by Taylor Deupree (12k) and features, among a host of other talented musicians, session players Leo Abrahams (Imogen Heap, Jon Hopkins) and Marvin Allen (Spotted Peccary) on electric guitars and Chris Tschuggnall (Ólafur Arnalds) on drums. Born in Germany and now based in the United States, Gunnar Spardel is primarily known for his work as Tigerforest, a chill electronica project that leans towards an upbeat soundscape. However, after the turbulence of recent events Spardel wanted to write under his own name for intimate and personal expression and to understand the new world around him. ‘The Fade To Afterlife’ follows his stunning 2020 release ‘Simplicity in a Complex World,’ which won the Schallwelle Award for Best Artist in Germany.

“‘The Fade To Afterlife’ tells the story of a person facing his final stages of life,” explains Spardel. “Each song tells a story about facing a journey’s end and the uncertainty of what will happen once we pass away.” The songs, which were written on the piano and synthesizers, tell stories of life, loss and love. Gunnar Spardel created the arrangements on his computer, before working with session musicians to cement the ideas and breathe organic life into the pieces. As the album was written during the pandemic, and the musicians could not work together in the studio, they recorded their parts separately. Nonetheless, the album still holds the essence of community, and emotion is felt in every note.

‘The Fade to Afterlife’ is a journey. Reflective, thought-provoking and inspirational, Gunnar Spardel has captured what it means to be alive. The album is scheduled for release on SUNSEASKY in Spring 2023.
