After only one diagnosis appointment that lasted all of 5 minutes because he was so distraught being in a doctors office, we now have an official Autism Spectrum disorder diagnosis letter.

Not going to lie, even I am surprised that its not taken many forms and follow up appointments for diagnosis but im glad I won't have to take him back as he really really really hates doctors.

So our boy stims a lot but what exactly is stimming?

Stimming is repetitive body movements or noises and is a form of regulation and soothing.

Our boy hits his head to stim. He hits his head on the ground/wall when hes angry and he places his favourite blanket on either parent to hit his head on when hes tired. Obviously this can be problematic due to fears of concussio and the amount of times we have had to dive towards him to put something under his head, we cant even count. It all usually happens quite a few times a day.

Happy easter!

Our boy didn't want these eggs connected so we pulled them apart and hes been throwing them up in the air and 'swishing' them around.
We don't bother with egg hunts due to the lack of understanding but hes enjoying playing with these.

He isn't doing too bad so far today despite only having 8 hours sleep in total and a complete meltdown when he woke again. Trying to get through brunch but hes just not feeling it today which is a whole different future story/post to tell. Chocolate later which im sure he will have no problems with.

Introducing our little boy!

He is 3 years old and non verbal. He understands very little and communicates through gestures (usually by pushing us to the places he wants to go). He hits his head on floors, walls, funiture, everything.... which is a form of stimming (ill discuss this in a future post). Meltdowns are regular too but inbetween all of this, hes a happy little boy who loves metal music and has the best sense of humour.
