Okay, here's one more shout out to the very talented Pam Henderson as awards season wraps up. Congrats to Pam for earning a national Award of Merit for video documentary from Associated Church Press for her compelling coverage of "Man Cave Ministry: Hope, help & healing."

ACP is a major Christian communications group that includes Baptists, Catholics, Lutherans, Presbyterians, ecumenical orgs, etc. -- so kind of a big deal! So proud of Pam for being recognized for her videography and video production skills by professional peers across the nation.

Congrats also to our colleagues at TAB Media Group and The Baptist Paper for earning a total of 12 ACP awards this year in several categories (in-depth reporting, design, website and overall publication). Yay, team!

When Ohio Baptist pastor Wayne Yeager talks about autism ministry, it’s personal. Yeager has led his congregation to provide specialized ministry to his son, Anakin, who is on the autism spectrum.

We were pleased to sit down with Wayne and hear about his family's journey and ministry efforts. Our coverage of his story currently is one of the top-trending articles on www.TheBaptistPaper.org. Happy Thanksgiving Week! One of the many blessings I value from over the years was being raised by faithful Christian parents. I had the privilege of honoring Dad & Mom with a chapter in WMU's recent devotional book, "Because of Hope: Reflections of Faith." https://www.wmustore.com/because-of-hope

I was invited to share an excerpt from that column as the guest editorial in this week's Thanksgiving issue of The Baptist Paper. It brings back many cherished memories of the lives and legacy of my dear parents, Bill & Juanita Henderson. Grateful for this season of reflection and thanksgiving!

Carved on my parents’ headstone in a rural church cemetery in southeast Missouri are the profound words of Philippians 1:21, “To live is Christ. To die is gain.”

Elizabeth Young is a trailblazer in Baptist journalism. A longtime friend and colleague, she shattered the glass ceiling in Baptist life decades ago.

Besides being named the first female editor of a weekly or biweekly state Baptist newspaper 35 years ago, she also was the first female president of the national Association of State Baptist Publications.

"We can’t quit because it’s really not about us today," declares Rolland Slade, pastor of Meridian Baptist Church in El Cajon, Calif. "It’s about the church tomorrow. It’s about the young people, the young families that will sit in the chairs that we’re sitting in today.”

Mike Carlisle, director of missions for San Diego Southern Baptist Association, agrees, affirming that effective ministry involves "authenticity and genuine service and really stepping in to heal hurts.”

We were privileged to interview Rolland, Mike and Mike's wife, Judy, about their All San Diego ministry strategy and its impact in a post-COVID world. TrenPam Communications: Our Story

So here’s at least part of our story … so far. As we were exploring new ministry opportunities a couple of years ago, Pam asked Trennis, “What would you be doing if you could do anything you wanted?” After pondering for a while, the answer was, “I’d love to travel the country, do interviews and write missions stories that impact people’s lives.” The rest, as they say, is history – or at least a work in process!

We contacted Sandy Wisdom-Martin, executive director of National Woman’s Missionary Union, and asked if WMU would be interested in working with a National Correspondent Team to tell WMU’s compelling missions stories through the web and social media to Millennial and Gen X Christians.

After much prayer and discussion, we signed on as WMU’s National Correspondents, with plans to travel throughout the nation over the next few years. As part of the process, Trennis took early retirement from his 10-year career as Communications VP at Ouachita Baptist University; we bought a small, used RV; we put our house on the market; and we started working with WMU to invite donors and prayer partners to help support our new ministry -- definitely a life lesson on stepping out in faith!

In addition to our WMU gig, we have created TrenPam Communications to provide freelance resources in such areas as writing, editing, photography and speaking engagements. We're available to help tell our clients’ unique stories as we travel the nation to conduct interviews and produce custom news and feature content for local businesses, churches, organizations and special events.
