His lifelong search for a forever home has finally ended! 7 year old Kane got ADOPTED!!
For most of his life Kane lived in terrible conditions in a kill shelter in the south. Then Animals R Family brought him to New York with the hope there would be more opportunities for him up north. He found short term foster care for a little while but ultimately lived in a boarding facility for over two years while they struggled to find him a forever home. People sometimes mistakenly think there must be a major "flaw" for a dog to be waiting for so long. But, sadly, that's often not the case at all. Kane is a loving lap-dog who yearned for nothing more than a family for too many years. We are so beyond grateful to his new moms for giving him this truly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Happy New Year, Kane! You deserve this!!
Erin updates, "Kane has been home for almost a month now and he’s doing SO well! Here’s what we’ve learned about him: his favorite place in the world is the couch and he takes his cuddling duties VERY seriously, soft falling snow turns him into a bouncy puppy, and his sweetness knows no end. After everything he went through, he has every right to be upset with the world, but he’s not. Not even close. He’s a perfect gentleman with what seems like a limitless amount of love and affection to give. A lot of people let him down in his life, but even more people stepped in, cared, and didn’t give up on him and we feel so very lucky to be his forever home at the end of it all. We can’t thank Susie’s Senior Dogs, Animals-R-Family and his foster families enough for everything they did for him. We’re going to see to it that every single day of Kane’s new life with us is as sweet and wonderful as he is!"
