Live tonight to chat about all the things
I’ve been seeing a lot of people hate on those who choose medical assistance for their weight loss. Can someone explain to me why it matters?
What do you think?

Is cost preventing you from taking a GLP1? People tell me all the time that they want to start a GLP1 but that it’s took expensive. There are ways to make it more affordable. I use an FSA to pay for all of my doctor’s visits and copays. FSAs put pre-tax dollars into your account so that you can use that money for any of your medical needs, that includes a Mochi subscription and the cost of your medications. Mochi is still taking $100 off your medication cost this month and you can use my code bt23ez for $40 off your first month’s prescription. We can learn new tricks. Don’t forget to share the habits they you’ve kicked on your own journey so we can learn from each other.
Habits are hard to break and new ones can be even harder to initiate or maintain. I follow the 12 week rule, if I can do something for 12 weeks then I can make it a habit. If I can give something up or retrain it for 12 weeks then I can break a habit. Mentally, that really helps me focus on a date so that I have a goal in mind.
1. Clearing my plate. If you’re anything like me, you were always told to clear your plate. In fact, my German grandmother expected me to clear at least 1.5-2 plates, she was an amazing cook and I always felt bad when I didn’t eat enough to show my enjoyment at her house.
2. Ordering the highest calorie (and let’s be honest, most delicious) drinks. I’ve gotten much better at finding drinks that I still enjoy with a much lower calorie content.
3. Restriction! Diet culture has taught us that we have to restrict to be successful. Guess what? It turns out you can still enjoy a variety of foods in moderation and still lose weight. I haven’t given anything up and I’m still losing weight.
4. Super low calorie diets. It turns out they do nothing but set me up with failure, drain my energy, and leave me feeling exhausted. Instead I shoot for a 1000 calorie deficit a day and I’ve been losing weight slowly but steadily.
5. Looking at exercise as punishment for my obesity. Exercise and physical movement just means that we are alive and we get to enjoy these bodies we’re in. Find something you genuinely enjoy doing and, I promise, it changes everything.

Don’t go into this blind…
If you’re anything like me, you are desperate to change your life. You may have been struggling with obesity since childhood, you could be dealing with PCOS, or as you’ve gotten older you’ve noticed that it gets harder and harder to lose the weight. You want to FEEL better and you want to LIVE better. People might think the is is about vanity but it’s about reclaiming your existence. Before you start, here are some things you need to know.
1. Dehydration is hard on your body. Dehydration can slow your metabolism and it can also increase your hunger. In order to capitalize on the effects of your GLP1, you want to stay hydrated.
2. Your food addiction may make it hard for you to listen to your body’s queues. Listen to your body when it says it’s full. That’s going to happen much more quickly and you’re going to stay satiated for a longer period of time. Don’t feel like you need to clear your plate.
3. Get your protein in, I lost about a third of my hair in the beginning and I lost some muscle mass. It’s important to get your protein in so that your body is getting the nutrition you need while in a calorie deficit.
4. Weight training is your friend! I don’t mean you have to turn into a power lifter but you do want to maintain and increase your muscle mass if you want to keep burning those calories. Reduced muscle mass means reduced basal metabolic rate, this is bad.
5. Have some patience! Just because I started responding at 7.5 mg does not meant that you will. 2.5 may work immediately for you or you may need to titrate up to 10 mg. Work with your provider until you get to the point that it’s working for you. The trial data shows that some people are slower/lower responders.
One more thing - do NOT ever be ashamed for using medical intervention. You are worth prioritizing and there is no shame in using a tool to help you do that!

Loose skin…I think everyone on an extreme weight loss journey worries about it and here’s the truth…-I thought I would be able to escape it and I couldn’t -I drank the water -I used the Bum Bum cream, which smells incredible, but didn’t do anything for the loose skin-It causes issues with my sizing in pants -It’s heavy -It’s uncomfortable at times -I don’t like how it looks-I’m bothered less by the legs and more by the arms because there’s so much muscle definition on my arms that you can’t see because of it-Yes, there’s still fat in that skin so it will get saggier as I lose more and appear less full. Here are some things you can do to circumvent some loose skin:-Stay hydrated -The slower the weight loss the more your skin can have time to shrink back.-Build muscle to fill it in -Lotion up -SPF is your friend In the end though, it is soooooo worth it! I will happily cover it, compress it, and have surgery on it later because this weight loss has given me my life back. The wins that I every day are monumental compared to a little loose skin. I know it’s scary but think about the alternative. Are you worried about loose skin after weight loss? #weightloss #mounjaro #mounjaroweightloss #mounjarojourney #glp1 #glp1weightloss #pcos #pcosweightloss #pcosweightlossjourney #weightlossjourney
It’s time for another confessional
1. Yes, I have loose skin and I feel fine showing it. It’s taken me awhile to get to this point but I’m done hiding. I worked hard for this body and if that means that I have loose skin, I’m okay with that. I know so many of you worry about loose skin but I am here to tell you that it is sooooo worth it for how you’re going to feel.
2. I have been struggling in the evenings with snacking and during the week with motivation to get into the gym. I’m working on journaling again because mindset is way harder to fix than a bad diet. I just have to get back into a focused mindset so that I can move forward again. Between swim meets, work, other projects, parenting, and wanting to enjoy the summer, I’ve lose myself a bit in the shuffle.
3. I’m in a weird place where I’m mid-size on top and plus-size on bottom. I’ve been approached by a few companies to show off some plus-sized clothing and I understand why they might contact me but I also feel kind of sad when I get the messages because I’ve worked so hard and I feel like it only shows on my top half.
4. I’m getting checked for lipedema. Thanks to all of those who have messaged and commented about it. It was on my radar so I am getting it checked out.
5. After some hate on Facebook this past week, I am more thankful than ever to have my IG tribe. You guys are rockstars and so kind and supportive. Thanks for following along on my journey.
What do you want to see in the next still fat, not as fat, but really fit confessional?
*Disclaimer - I use the word fat because it helps me. I am not being unkind to myself, it’s a way for me to look at my current status and motivate myself. Reminder - referring to myself as fat does not mean that I am calling myself ugly, I am proud of my continued progress.

Let's break down what a day in my life looks like as an almost 40 working mom on a 160 pound weight loss journey with the help of Mounjaro. Since starting Mounjaro, I've learned that it's incredibly important to better my relationship with food while navigating what my body needs. Here's what I'm eating to do just that:My day starts with a GNC Women's Ultra Mega multivitamin, it's crucial to get all my nutrients in since I'm focused on a calorie deficit during my Mounjaro weight loss journeyBreakfast: Protein pancake - 12 grams of protein, 240 caloriesSnack: 2 tuna packets - 34 grams of protein, 140 caloriesCoffee: Brown sugar shaken oat milk espresso, 2 grams of protein, 190 caloriesSalad: 20 grams of protein, 450 caloriesMid-afternoon energy boost: Alani Nu Orange Kiss, 10 calories (a calorie deficit can cause issues with my energy and I needed to be on my A-game because of my daughter's swim meet, these are my go to because they give me plenty of energy without crashing or jitters)Dinner - Homemade white chicken chilli: 38 grams of protein, 424 caloriesTotal for the day: 1454 calories, 106 grams of protein, 100 ounces of water #GNCPartner #TeamGNC @gnclivewell https://tinyurl.com/cfkzz3k9
Seriously, stop doing this…
If you’re on a GLP1 then you know you should be feeling less hungry, feeling full longer, have better treatment of your insulin resistance, and get rid of the food noise, right? Here’s what you need to know if you plan on discontinuing or lowering your dose at some point.
1. You have to stop eating when you’re full. Yes, this means that a lot of times we have to learn HOW to eat and WHAT to eat to fuel our bodies. This might mean learning to look at your macros and prioritizing protein. When you’re off the medication, you’re not going to feel full as easily so you really have to learn how to establish proper food intake.
2. Stop living in the Ozempic, Mounjaro, Tirzepatide, semaglutide honeymoon bubble. Sustainable changes take work and that means also looking at other areas of your life that you can improve? Can you improve your activity level (I didn’t say going to the gym)? Can you improve your food choices? Can you improve your relationship with food? Is therapy a good addition to your new life? I’m always going to be an advocate for therapy because this is an entirely new life and it’s important to have support.
3. Stop believing that a GLP1 is the only reason that you’re losing weight. Weight loss, regardless of interventions, takes hard work. You can do this. Sometimes sustainable weight loss will mean staying on the medication and that’s OKAY! I need a medication to stay healthy and I’m okay with that. Would you feel bad if you had to take a medication for hypothyroidism? I’m guessing no. You deserve to be supported medically as needed for your body.
Now, it’s your turn, what should we all stop doing?

There’s a lot of stuff that I can do now that I’ve lost some weight but there are definitely some things I can’t do anymore:
1. Rest my boobs on a table while eating. The girls are still hanging in there but definitely not at the hefty size they were 100 or so pounds ago.
2. Shave as easily. Loose skin on my legs and newly formed crevices in my armpits mean that shaving has become an adventure.
3. Drink a glass of water before a meal. Due to Mounjaro causing delayed gastric emptying, I have to take it easy with my water intake. This is really helpful in keeping my calories in check but sometimes a girl needs to eat.
4. Get my hair thinned during my hair cuts. I used to have super thick hair which is just now coming back. In the beginning of my weight loss, I neglected protein and nutrient intake which caused me to lose 1/3 of my hair. Thankfully, it was only temporary.
5. Wear my old clothes, underwear, bras, and shoes. Yes, I said shoes. My feet aren’t wide anymore so new shoes for me.
How about you, what’s changed?

The raspberry goddess life is real and it lasts for hours! Anyone else constantly red and sweaty? No, just me, that’s cool. I am not a good looking gym goer. Seriously, are you one of those people who glow in the gym? If so, how do you do it?Do you…?#100lbsdown #100poundsdown #100poundsinayear #beforeandafter #weightloss #fitness #fattofit #mounjaro #mounjaroweightloss #mounjarojourney #ozempic #wegovy #glp1 #momswholift #momswhoworkout #pcos #pcosawareness #selfcare #zepbound
I’m going to regret this one but I’m going to do it anyways and here’s why:
I’ve spent the vast majority of my life hiding my legs. I’ve had cellulite since the age of 10. As a middle school cheerleader, I remember having to find the biggest skirt so that it would cover my butt and thighs. I had to have my aunt help me pin the waist because it was so big. I can’t remember the last time I went to a public pool without a swim skirt on…until, now.
I’m taking my security blanket, the swim skirt, off because I’ve realized something… As someone who’s lost a lot of weight over the past year, I deserve to be comfortable in my body whatever phase it’s in. Right now, I’m in an in between phase, I’m not where I want to be but I’m so much further along than I ever dreamed of. I feel more comfortable without the swim skirt on. I still worry that people are talking about my legs but, if they’re going to talk, they’re going to talk.
I have loose skin and, as you can see, it’s already being pulled down by gravity and dressing over my knees. Or, should I say, it’s hanging over where I think I have knees?
This summer, love yourself and love your body, no matter what phase it’s in. Is anyone else ditching the skirt this summer?

It’s time for a fat girl confessional (feel free to share your top confession to make me feel a little better over here):
1. I don’t hate clothes anymore, I enjoy shopping again because I can actually walk in a store and buy things for myself. This is always the case on top, sometimes not on bottom. The ass won’t quit…
2. I have bad days, I have days where I catch a reflection of myself and I absolutely hate it no matter how much progress I’ve made. Then, I force myself to take a picture and compare it to where I was a year ago. It doesn’t take away the sting but it makes it a little more manageable.
3. I absolutely hate my loose skin! My arms are looking worse and worse by the day and the skin on my inner thighs resembles a deflated balloon. Here’s the thing, I can’t do anything about it until I lose at least 55-60
more pounds. At that point, I’ll try and get the surgery done. My legs look and feel awful but it’s so much better than the alternative. I’m still going to wear sleeveless shirts because the fat and loose skin is there whether I show them or not and I’d rather be comfortable. I know this is a fear so so many but, let me tell you, it’s so much better than the alternative.
4. I compare myself to influencers daily and that’s a terrible thing to do. They’re at the finish line and I’m only halfway through the race, there’s no comparison. I should probably stop doing that, as should you.
5. Even though I don’t eat as much, I still struggle daily with food addiction and I have to be careful mind myself of all the healthy habits that I’ve built. Medication helps but you have to put in a lot of work.
How about you? What are your deep dark weight loss secrets you feel like putting out there today?
