Rick "Rocky" Lockridge is best known for a viral internet meme, but his true legacy lies in his boxing career. Lockridge gave Roger Mayweather his first defeat with a 98-second knockout, earning the WBA and lineal super featherweight titles. He also faced notable opponents like Eusebio Pedroza, Juan Laporte, Wilfredo Gomez, and Julio Cesar Chavez.

After retiring, Lockridge struggled with drug addiction and homelessness. In 2010, his family brought him onto the A&E show "Intervention," where an emotional scene with his son turned into the meme known as the "best cry ever." Lockridge spent 90 days in rehab and remained sober until his death on February 7, 2019, at age 60.
While the meme brought him internet fame, it also shed light on his impressive boxing achievements.
