Something I’ve always wanted to be apart of was Habitat, and this summer I feel very honored to say that’s happening.

I’ve attended so many times because it’s always been so many things to me. It’s been the food for the soul that delivered every time, the break in the week that allowed you to put things on pause, it’s meeting up with friends and making new ones. I’m more than happy to say that I get to bring one of these nights together for everyone and cannot wait.

Learn a little about myself and my EP with Underscore Recordings

You've heard the teasers, now let's dig in a little deeper into the artist and the work.

Jake may have started out finding the inspiration to dj at a younger age, but the Pacific Northwest native picked up producing shortly after moving back to Seattle from Victoria BC. Better known for his artist/nickname—which he picked up while playing hockey—Koister has been producing everything under the 4x4 umbrella for over ten years. As he continues to add to his oeuvre Koister finds inspiration in the many shapes and forms of everyday sounds and weaves them into the mix.

"After creating and finishing both of these tracks pretty close together, I knew these paired well and wanted them to be released as an EP. "The Full 48" just happened to be one of those tracks that the elements fell into place and everything came together rapidly. I finished the final version within 2 days time; hence the name. I truly put 48 hours into that track non-stop (besides the possible 3 or so hours of sleep I got). Needless to say, it's a bit more repetitive, yet it gives the ideal notes of refreshing yet heavy bass to keep the energy moving. "Kongker" was a completely different development process. Its a composition that formed over time as I would keep hearing things from my daily routine and different snippets of music throughout each day that helped shape the idea that was forming. But generally I felt like I was losing my thought process/mind throughout, which I channeled to help capture the vocal ideas. Overall these two tracks belong together and will fit in at any warehouse or spacial club to give them some room to breathe."

That feeling of getting ready for a night where my stomach feels like it’s in knots before I head out to play is back and I’m all for it. The second I walk through the doors is when it all dissipates. I’m in my element and ready to move and move everyone with me. Can’t wait until this weekend where we get to start a new path at Supernova and pave a new escape for anyone who loves art, music, and an outstanding atmosphere of elements that brings everyone together.
