9:44 P.M. UPDATE
County Judge Darryl Mahoney is asking the public to not get out and drive "unless it is absolutely necessary."
Trees are blocking roads and power lines are down "in all areas of the county," Mahoney said in a Facebook post.
"Road crews are out working but the damage is scattered everywhere.
"Stay safe where you are and we will overcome this storm as well.
Power is out across the county and Entergy crews have been notified, they have a lot to do so it may take some time," Mahoney said.
UPDATE:
The number of outages in the county has grown to nearly 6,000, and emergency services are responding to numerous reports of trees down in the roadway and power lines down.
