Using Shout cast software, we are capable of broadcasting live from music and other events around the island or from the home base of the DJ. Radio Alchemy is bringing together a showcase of Big Island DJ's and Producers using a unique process of remote broadcasting. We are capable of hosting at events and streaming live on location or from the private studio's of a number of area DJ's. We seek to
explore coverage of public meetings along with other current events on the Big Island of Hawaii. We also broadcast "Democracy Now" which is an award winning highly acclaimed syndicated program which covers 'grassroots' news Journalism show airing at 8 AM HST (http://www.democracynow.org). The gift today is finding so much material in the archive that I don't yet have as part of our playlist which has to happen. Mucho Mahalos to everyone and the Oceans 111 team that makes this happen. It's not exactly "Alice's Restaurant" but it's from around that period and features a group of from the early 70's: Soft Machine's Third Album titled "Third". Among the earliest use of Tape Looping and Jazz and Electronic improvisation, they were pioneers who had considerable influence on bands that would later meld with Space Rock and Etherial styles of music. Even Pink Floyd who they played with at the famed but short lived UFO Club during the early counter culture days in London.

For over 50 years, these records have followed me from place to place with a few new additions along the way. This format will allow for 1 (sometimes 2) full albums to be aired in their entirety. We have 7 genres which will be decided with a random generated wheel spin. This story of both transcendence and determination was what had inspired the start of Radio Alchemy and what later would become KONA -100.5 LPFM. It was a 2 hour workshop at the Envision Festival in Costa Rica which I was called to in 2013 entitled "What is Your Tree?"
Knowing that there really is no comparison between what Julia took on, the sacrifices made and the willpower to see it thru... there were similarities in what she describes as the passing seconds... sometimes meaningless passages of time lined up side by side do take on a very definite meaning when looked back upon the whole.
My 'tree' took the form of a radio station... first internet, then surprisingly manifested into a new LPFM format which the FCC has yet to create another window to walk thru. Whether it was the loss of a $10K sponsorship that was to assist in its creation or the loss of a transmitter two year into the FM project... these were set backs that felt like daggers at times.
Now it is knowing what is possible and what keeps our public from totally embracing the scope of how far we've come and how far we still can go. I know that I can't rely on anyone really. But there's the occasional cosmic bread crumb that feeds the process. This can take the form of a 150' radio tower suddenly appearing in the free section of Craigslist. Or the winning of a $1500 grant because I chose to follow this breadcrumb into an abyss which I could not turn away from. It is blind faith in the process that we struggle with daily as we direct our internal process towards our goal.
