0 hits, 1 win.

The Pirates are the first team since 2008 to win a game without a hit!

Burgh Watchers is still looking for a solid "host." Someone to guide the ship during recording. Obviously no experience is necessary and probably better for your stress level.

🌈⭐⭐⭐ The More You Know

The Pittsburgh Penguins and Fenway Sports Group (FSG) today announced that David Morehouse has stepped down as CEO of the Penguins.

Morehouse: "I want to thank Ron Burkle and Mario Lemieux for taking a chance on me in 2007 and giving this Pittsburgh kid the dream of a lifetime to run his hometown hockey team. During those 16 years I’ve been lucky enough that this never felt like a “job.” It always felt like a partnership – with ownership, players, coaches, staff, and Pittsburgh fans. We had some incredible times together, including three Stanley Cups and watching Pittsburgh turn into a true hockey town. Most importantly I want to thank my family for the support they have given me during this time. I’m confident that the Penguins’ future is in good hands with Fenway Sports Group. The new ownership group prioritizes winning and that has always been the philosophy of the Pittsburgh Penguins. They have experience running successful franchises and we have some of the best staff in sports already in place. Together, the legacy of the Penguins is sure to continue. Thank you so much for all of your support, and, as always, Let’s Go Pens.”

Home ice for the play-in series is huge. Pens play the last 5 on the road and need 3pts to clinch a spot. Bridgeport plays Providence and Springfield yet, 2 of the top teams in the division. Pens get Lehigh Valley in the finale - last place in the division. Hopefully it doesn't come down to that.

How do we promise 2 episodes in one week? Cause I played Arizona intern with episode 3 and let it sit without submitting. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Episode 4 coming this week too. I promise to find that pesky publish button before the playoffs are over.

Things get back on track with all things Penguins!! The Baby Pens are making a playoff push and the parent club is finding its way in the weeks that follow the trade deadline. And the NHL has a consistency issue.

Providence shut out Hershey today 1-0. Wilkes-Barre got 4pts over the weekend. More importantly, yesterday's 6-5 win was a "game in hand" on Hershey. Got 2 needed pts. Hershey was kind enough to give the game back and lose in the process.

Wilkes-Barre to 4th by a slim margin with 2 games in hand. Hershey to 5th. Tues in Wilkes-Barre the Pens host the Bears again. Bridgeport is almost stuck in 6th. 2 games left, going by pts % (stupid play games), leaves a small window open if Hershey and Wilkes-Barre can lose enough over the next 2 weeks.

Once upon a time before entry level contracts and ridiculous salary caps.... Mike Bossy sat down with current Islanders GM to discuss his first contract. As the story goes, during the discussion Bossy says to his prospective boss and says, "Well, what is a 50 goal scorer worth to you?" The GM responded "You're gonna score 50 goals?"

Not only did Bossy score 50 as a rookie, he did it in 9 consecutive seasons to start his career. Add on top of that 4 consecutive Stanley Cups, and I think the Islanders found a gem.

Rest easy big guy. One of the most pure goal scorers of all time. 50 goals while teams like the Flyers and Rangers were trying to punch your teeth out is no easy task.

R.I.P. Mike Bossy

Sid's OT winner vs Nashville today gives him 1400pts in 1100 games. To put that up with the greats

Sid: 1400pts - 1100gms = 1.27pt/game
Ovie: 1403pts - 1267gms = 1.11pt/game

Sid has 6; 100pt seasons, last in 2018-19. Highest point total? 120 in 79 games in 2006-07, Ovie had 92pts in 82 games.

Ovie has 4, his last in 2009-10 season. Highest point total? 112 in 2007-08, Sid had 72pt in 53 games (1.36pt/game.) Had he played all 82 like Ovie, they would've tied at 112pts.

Mario: 1723pts - 915gms = 1.88pt/game
Wayne: 2857pts - 1487gms = 1.92pt/game
Jagr: 1921pts - 1733gms(!!) = 1.11pt/game
Bossy: 1126pts - 752gms = 1.5pt/game
*Bossy played 10 seasons, 9 straight 50 goal season. Had 38 in year 10 and said "I'm done."
Messier:

Wayne is the only player to break 200pts in a season - 4 times. Lemieux was closest with 199 in 76 games (2.62pt/gm) in 1988-89. In 82 games that's 215pts, tying Wayne's record from 1985-86, just 3 seasons prior. Oh, Wayne had 168 in 78 games in 1988-89, his first season as a King after 4 Cups in 5 years and getting married the summer before.

Wilkes-Barre gets the night off, gains a game in hand in Hershey whose woes continue as they drop a rough one to Lehigh Valley 4-1. Baby Pens currently sit in 4th and would host Hershey if the playoffs started tomorrow.

Weekend sees Wilkes-Barre on the road vs Syracuse Sat night while Hershey hosts top seeded Springfield Sat and Sunday. Wilkes-Barre can open the gap between 4 and 5 and will still gain another game on Hershey.
