This is a panoramic view of the Atlantica Galaxy. The galaxy has 6 spirals. I'm working on creating galactic dust clouds.
Every single star in the galaxy has its own planetary system with playable planets, moons, and asteroids.

On New Years Day 2021, I began work on Atlantica Worlds, a galaxy-wide single player role playing space game centered around a planetary system called the Atlantica System.

I chose Unreal Engine because of the support that Epic Games gives independent game developers. Epic Games has also provided a 64-bit coordinate system with the advent of Unreal Engine 5 (UE5), a generous licensing agreement, and free monthly assets that I can use in my game. In addition, Epic Games is also a good steward with any companies, products, and services they acquire to the benefit of Unreal Engine users.

With Atlantica Worlds, I like to use the cutting edge technology that UE5 offers, including experimental and beta plugins. I have ported my game project from UE 4.25 to UE 4.26, UE 5.0 Preview, UE 5.0, UE 5.1, and onto UE 5.2. I'm currently using UE 5.2.1 for my very ambitious project.

Localized spaceship gravity in Unreal Engine 4.26. This is still a work in progress.

Manual world origin rebasing in Unreal Engine 4.26 using Blueprints. The player character is no longer jittery as I travel to the sun. The world origin is reset to the player's position every 3.2 to 3.5 km away from the previous world origin. I had to create a BP to maintain the original world origin for manual level streaming and positioning.

Planetary atmosphere and volumetric clouds in Unreal Engine 4.26. The clouds are a work in progress. Hopefully I can also implement a weather system and seasons.

Spaceship elevators test in Unreal Engine 4.26. The character is no longer jittery on the moving platforms.

Development Log update:
I'm working on post processing for the ocean sphere so it's blue underwater and I'm working on a swimming system for the player avatar and PNCs. I'm building a space station in orbit around the test planet. I'm also working on procedurally generated life size cities where every single building and house have accessible rooms, furnitures, and non-playable characters with AI occupying them. I will also work on biomes such as forests, deserts, swamps, etc. and vehicles, such as futuristic bikes, cars, hovercrafts, spaceships, etc.
I will also work on mini-games within the game, such as survival games (foraging, hunting, fishing, etc.), sports games such as basketball, racing, and a game based economy such as mining, astro-mining, selling, trading, and much more. It will be a game of all games where many games are all in one.

Water and oceans test on a procedurally generated planet in Unreal Engine 4.26. The post processing still has to be done for the water.

Day and night cycle test on a planet in Unreal Engine 4.26.

Jet exhaust particle test in Unreal Engine 4.26.

25/01/2021

Space flight to planet test in Unreal Engine 4.26. I'm using a jet as a placeholder until I create a spaceship.
