I finally decided to write in my journal today. It's been over a month since I've journaled, when usually I write multiple times per week (even daily). Sometimes, I get so caught up in self-doubt and obsessive thinking that I neglect the habits that are most grounding for me.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
After drafting a new entry, I decided to look back on old ones and found an honest and raw reflection I felt called to share on my blog (link in bio). Here's a little excerpt from it:

"I want to tame my monkey brain. The part of my mind that criticizes every single thing I do. Every urge I feel. Every choice I make. Every word I say — even when it’s on my heart."
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Reality is, our brains can run wild with conflicting ideas and self-doubt and mean thoughts that do nothing but stir up fear, guilt, and indecision. The monkey mind tries to keep us safe, but really, it often ends us isolating us from the love and connection we crave and deserve. It's a universal experience, but some can fall victim to theirs a little more easily than others. (I tend to be one of those people...I'm working on it.)

While it's not exactly easy to share such an intimate piece of writing — one I jotted down before bed after a long day back in April — I feel called to do so, hoping maybe it will help someone feel a little less alone in their own monkey mind.
