Some of you are waking up to some morning thunder! We have one stray storm moving through southern St. Mary's County with heavy rain and some thunder/lightning. This storm should continue to slowly drift southward over the next 30-45 minutes!

The heat and humidity will be making a comeback this week! The southerly flow will help temps get back into the 90s. We will also see daily chances of isolated to scattered thunderstorms. The best chances (close to 50%) will be on Tuesday and Friday. However, not everyone will see them. Stay cool this week!

A broken line of showers and thunderstorms has developed and is gradually pushing southeastward. This line has pockets of briefly heavy rain, occasional thunder, and gusty winds. This should work through Southern MD and the Northern Neck over the next couple of hours.

We're beginning to see some of those scattered thunderstorms we were talking about earlier take shape. Right now, these storms are moving decently to the east with briefly heavy rain and some wind. As the afternoon goes on, additional storms are possible, and they may turn severe.

Most of today should stay dry, with highs in the 80s. We will see atmospheric energy move overhead this evening, though, which could touch off scattered showers and storms. Our Cedar Point Federal Credit Union Futureview model thinks these are most likely in Southern MD after sunset. But, anytime after 5pm is fair game.
Localized downpours and gusty winds would be the primary threats. Stay weather-aware!

Widespread periods of rain are expected across the Mid-Atlantic today. As Futureview shows, we are also likely to see localized downpours and embedded storms. Some communities could see a quick inch or two of rain throughout the day! It will also remain rather humid.

Our round of evening storminess is exiting across the Bay, and quiet conditions are settling in. As a result, the Severe Watch has been canceled for all local counties. Additional showers and spotty storms will be possible tonight, but the severe threat will be greatly diminished. This rain will help usher in more seasonal temps (finally)! Highs tomorrow will only peak in the 80s :)

We will need to see how long that initial burst of snow lasts before dry air starts eating away at it. Periods of snow linger throughout the day, especially north of DC. Futurecast likes 2-4" north of DC and <2" south of there.

STORM TIMING | POSTED: 1/15 11:45AM VIDEO HAS NO AUDIO Our latest run of Cedar Point Federal Credit Union Futurecast is in, and it continues to hold steady. This has light snow moving northward throughout the afternoon, and becoming widespread this evening. This model continues to hint at the potential of dry choking off the precip early tomorrow morning. With that said, this is really one of the only models to do this. Other models have snow lingering into tomorrow morning's commute. We'll see if it's right! Nevertheless, this model still puts down a widespread 1-3"/2-4" of snow tonight, with the highest totals north. I'm still holding to my forecast from this morning.
