Be jealous Southern MD #snow lovers! Outside of my door in Southern PA, we have a good 5” of heavy, wet, pasty snow. Good for snowball making and enough to close down our school buildings ❄️ ⛄️

UPDATED SNOW TIMING | POSTED: 1/19 8AM
Our latest run of Cedar Point Federal Credit Union Futurecast still likes the idea of widespread, light #snow redeveloping across the area over the next several hours as we head towards lunchtime, continuing throughout the afternoon. Another inch is possible in SOMD, with another 2-3" around DC.

TIMING THE SNOW | POSTED: 1/18 5:15PM
Our Cedar Point Federal Credit Union Futurecast model has snow moving in around sunrise tomorrow. We will need to see how long that initial burst of snow lasts before dry air starts eating away at it. Periods of snow linger throughout the day, especially north of DC. Futurecast likes 2-4" north of DC and <2" south of there.
5AM- Here's the latest update from Forecaster John Bordash on the impacts we are seeing as rounds of snow and sleet push through the region. Many area schools are closed or delayed, and that list will likely continue to change.

Our latest run of Cedar Point Federal Credit Union Futurecast is in, and it continues to hold steady. This has light snow moving northward throughout the afternoon, and becoming widespread this evening. This model continues to hint at the potential of dry choking off the precip early tomorrow morning.
With that said, this is really one of the only models to do this. Other models have snow lingering into tomorrow morning's commute. We'll see if it's right! Nevertheless, this model still puts down a widespread 1-3"/2-4" of snow tonight, with the highest totals north.
I'm still holding to my forecast from this morning. You can access that, here: https://jbweather.net/final-call-first-widespread-snowfall-in-2-years-tonight/
