We had a great weekend in Cirencester for the Grande Melee. Chris finished 5 with Macedonians and Joe was joint 7th with Picts.

2v2 game crossing the frozen river. Normans and Picts spent the first turn positioning and left crossbows aimed across the bridges. Vikings repeatedly moved over one bridge whilst their Moorish allies took the second bridge, their defence abilities taking the sting out of the Norman shooting.

Viking levy crossed the bridge before being destroyed by Pict and Norman charges. The counter attacks took Viking warriors firmly onto the enemy bank and forced back to their opponents. On the other bridge, the Moors pressed on, charging Norman crossbows defending against the Knights' charge.

The Pict and Norman shooting missed their targets this time. The unlikely alliance of Moors and Vikings controlled the bridges and won the game.

All 3 of the Tempest crew were at the Saga AoC Roll Call tournament over the weekend. Joe won first place with Spanish!

My school Warhammer club has been trying some games with Gripping Beast plastic vikings. Pupils built and painted the models before using in some (v simplified) Saga battles. Pretty good work for 10-11 year olds!
