Rihanna is the new face of ’s J’adore fragrance and her recent blonde experiments have got me wondering if is going to be blonde for her first campaign.
Dior Beauty announced the icon would be replacing Charlize Theron, who has been the face of J’adore perfume for 20 years, on their Instagram with the caption:
J’adore has a new queen.
I’m excited to see the campaign on September 1st. Charlize’s campaigns have been stunning but also pretty consistent aesthetic-wise so I’m interested to see what Riri does.
What do you think? Also, swipe for a reminder of Rihanna’s very first blonde experiment…
Have you checked out episode 259 yet? I’m sharing my brights on scents that are new to me, from to - plus one very special scent that I buy every single year.

Episode 255 is about four of my favourite new magazine covers. From to ’s triumphant return to print (!) and covering 🦋
I truly feel like Willow is in her discovery/exploratory phase and I’m here for it!
As always I share my thoughts on each look, as well as info on the team involved and I am OBSESSED with what on hair on makeup created for this cover story.

In episode 249 I talk to hair and makeup designer about her work on the new Amy Winehouse biopic
Peta kindly shared some of her moodboards and in the episode you’ll hear her talk about how she was literally thrown in at the deep end when it came to planning for the movie. She also shares on the various challenges - from getting Amy’s tattoos in chronological order to perfecting her bouffant hairstyles.
I also share some background on Amy’s style as well as Director Sam Taylor Johnson, and also give my own thoughts after watching the movie.
Ep. 249 is available now wherever you like to listen to podcasts 🎧
The latest episode is all about ’s cover. I felt compelled to create an episode that not only looked at Rihanna’s history as a risk-taker but also explained a little about the magazine’s own reputation for going against the grain of your fave fashion glossies. Here are some of the most striking - and a couple of controversial - covers over several decades.
Ep. 247 is out anywhere you like to listen to podcasts!
In episode 247 I talk about the new cover starring Rihanna and break down her history as a fashion risk taker as well as the magazine’s own reputation.
I also look at the backlash to this image and talk about the woman who *really* upset religious organisations back in the ‘80s - Madonna.
Swipe through for a selection of covers and see if you can guess which of these also caused controversy for other reasons 👀
I’ve spoken about beauty standards many times on the show. I’ve had the wonderful talk to me about not wanting to look pretty for anyone else, I’ve had the amazing break down ‘hot’ vs ‘pretty’ and in the most recent episode I talked about the icon that is always being willing to look ‘ugly’ rather than attractive, seductive, beautiful - all the things women are *meant* to represent.
Seeing many of the comments on the various posts showing on the new cover of I’m reminded again that women rarely get to play with their image because their audience simply won’t allow it.
Religious commentary aside, I’m glad Rihanna felt like she could do this and her work with on styling takes me back to artists like Cindy Sherman and of course - the photographer behind these images.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - makeup comes off! But what do you think?
Whew it was a BIG week in beauty so this episode is a little late!

It’s the FINAL episode of 2023!
I thought about going all in and doing 25 episodes in 25 days again but then I had to ask myself: is it a *must*?
Instead I decided to wind things down slowly and focus on something pretty much all us can do, a little self care, specifically when it comes to our winter bodies.
Episode 228 is all about lotions, creams and exfoliants, from classics to new cult products.
Before I fully wind down - Wednesday is my last working day - I would love to thank anyone who has ever listened to or shared an episode of this show. You are *literally* the reason this show exists and it’s a gift I get to share and enjoy.
I wish I could hug every single one of you (if you’re a hugger of course) and I want you to know, especially right now, that you matter, more than you know. I’ll still be posting here but the next show will be out in 2024, whoop! See you there.

It’s that time of year again! is such an amazing way for me to remind myself of how far the has come.
Thanks to YOU listening and sharing, this community has grown so much. To think that this week I hosted my first IRL event, HAIR TALKS and got to meet some of you who listen to the show and follow my socials? It was AMAZING! And there’s so much more to come.
Thank you to every guest who has given their time and shared their stories in the hopes of inspiring others. I am so committed to maintaining BeautyMe as a safe space for all to learn and share and to appreciate our similarities and differences.
Please don’t stop rating and reviewing the show - it helps it, and me, be better every single time. Thank you.
Who do you want to see at the 2024 Met Gala? I’m so excited to see the actual exhibition for Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.
Some think the theme is kind of vague and confusing due to the concept of nature being included in Head Curator Andrew Bolton’s interview, but I think that’s because some have got hooked on the ‘sleeping beauty’ fairytale.
In fact, the ‘sleeping beauties’ are the 250 garments and accessories, spanning a 400 year period, that the Museum is going to bring back to life for us via CGI, AI, augmented reality and more. Until then, I’m hoping some of my faves are really going to bring it when it comes to their hair and makeup on the night! Yes is in there twice 🙌🏽
Episode 222 is one for the Priscilla Presley fans, the retro hair and makeup lovers and anyone who loves a Sofia Coppola movie. Sofia’s new movie is out nationwide in the States today and is slated for a January 5th release here in the U.K.
Priscilla’s influence on style is undeniable so I knew I had to reach out the hair and makeup teams on the new Sofia movie. It’s got to be so challenging to emulate someone’s look without turning the actress, in this case , into a caricature that distracts from the story.
Thankfully head of hair design was happy to share exactly how she and her team got to work on this 30-day shoot and I also chatted with head of makeup to find out which products she used to recreate Priscilla’s iconic beauty signatures.

In this episode London-based curator Jasmine shares her must-have skincare as someone living with eczema. I have to confess, as someone who does not have eczema but is always searching for hydration, I’ve already purchased the Dermexa Emollient Cream so I’ll let you know my thoughts later.
Check out the full conversation in episode 221 for Jasmine’s thoughts on code-switching as a mixed race woman and how Tumblr influenced her beauty moments. Out now everywhere!

Is this the new line?? 👀 if you haven’t heard the news, - your favourite makeup artist's favourite makeup artist - is H&M Beauty’s very first Global Makeup Artist. Raoul has inspired the world with his creative looks for the likes of Zendaya, Alexa Demie and FKA Twigs and he definitely made an impact at Valentino Beauty, his role prior to working with H&M. I think he's going to bring H&M a whole new audience that might not normally shop there. So let's see! I found this image on his Instagram Stories and I *think* it's the new line as I know it features red packaging...
I’m loving how makeup is moving right now! Definitely feeling our ‘90s neutrals are taking a backseat to some 80s-inspired brights and frosty metallics ☃️ ❄️ plus is such a moment!
Wow is all I can say at this epic portfolio of supermodels by photographers Luigi and Iango. Created for the Italian, French and Spanish editions of and capturing the likes of Penelope Tree and Twiggy to Iman, Naomi, Stephanie, Amber and many, many more - I love how the duo worked mainly in black and white for this beautiful statement story.
Can you tell I’m a photographer that prefers to be behind my camera? 🙈🤣 That said I’m grateful to for making me feel comfortable at the event. Speaking of Milk, tomorrow’s guest episode is SO good… 🥛
Found this 2022 hair story from over on Threads and had to share. It’s packed with so many references to the ‘90s, from box braids to fanned-out buns but also feels *so* quintessentially London. Hair is by , makeup is by my fave and photography is by

At the age of 23 fashion stylist Claudia Walder’s life as she knew it changed. After several trips to the doctor, she began feeling extremely tired; sleeping for hours and lacking energy. After six months she was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) and so began her journey into learning more about her body - along the way realising that whether she went private or via the NHS, there was a distinct lack of support.
In this conversation Claudia shares her firsthand experiences of feeling alone, what she might have done differently and how she relies on a range of tools, the most potent of all being her ability to master her mind. We also discuss the need for more representation of disabled people, why she started and the ongoing conversation on ‘invisible illnesses.’
There’s a lot more in this chat and it’s definitely one for sharing with others. Find episode 207 anywhere you like to listen. Thank you

The latest episode of BeautyMe was a real labour of love. I’ve wanted to dedicate an episode to Donyale Luna, fashion icon and the FIRST black woman on the cover of Vogue for *so* long, but the lack of correct information out there made it seem impossible. It wasn’t until I discovered the work of author and writer Ben Arogundade that I realised an episode could finally happen and I’ve left links to his book in the show notes for you. The resulting episode is one that takes you through the life, impact and death of Donyale and touches on her home background and the landscape of an America trying to evolve via the Civil Rights Act. Donyale entered the worlds of fashion and media at a time when both operated with extremely racist policies and even today, her own race and how she refused to ‘own’ it always comes up when you mention her name. For me, it’s not about judgment; I can only imagine what it was like for a black woman in the 1950s, a time when people of various religions, backgrounds and races were trying to ‘pass’ as someone worthy of that elusive American Dream. I just wanted this episode to be my gift to any existing Donyale fan or inspire someone who’s never heard of her before. Towards the end I also share what I think is some truly exciting news! Filmmaker @nailahjefferson is working with HBO on a documentary about Donyale’s life. She might finally get the love, acclaim and understanding that she no doubt wanted from her career. Ep.145 is available everywhere now 🎧 #donyaleluna #supermodel #firstblacksupermodel #beautypodcast #biopic #blackhistorymonth #hbo
Could Lisa Rinna’s daughter @ameliagray take Bella Hadid’s top model spot? Love, love, LOVE this episode with trend forecaster, analyst, writer and content creator Mandy Lee AKA @oldloserinbrooklyn 🙌🏽 Mandy is amazing at sharing information in a TikTok so you can imagine how much ground we covered in an hour. I’ve done another beauty breakdown because I kinda love them! If you read yesterday’s newsletter you’ll know that over on TT I indulge my more nerdy side of beauty content. I’d love to know if you like this kind of stuff? I wanted to break down the @billieeilish campaign for @gucci eyewear because I’m obsessed with vintage movies and the whole ad is so dramatic! Let me know if you’ve seen it - still trying to work out who created Billie’s epic nails; if you know, tag them! Oh and my apologies, I am saying @alessandro_michele surname incorrectly 😖 #billieeilish #guccieyewear #alessandromichele #billieeilishforgucci #beautybreakdown
Are you a creator trying to find your voice? In episode 138 I invite brilliant makeup artist and content creator (and musician) @ehlieluna back on the pod. Based in New York, Ehlie seemed like the perfect person to discuss evolution with. I feel like many of us have had breakthroughs during the last couple of years, and since the last time Ehlie was on the show her content has evolved to become more than ‘just makeup’. Ehlie is so open with her thoughts and inspirations and she’s also done a Ted Talk since we last spoke by the way 🙌🏽🙌🏽 Check out Ehlie’s thoughts on going viral and why it’s not necessarily the way to get to where you want.
