The goal scoring chart of season 2000-2001 includes the names of the biggest stars of that era. In a season which Roma finally clinched the Scudetto under Fabio Capello, three Giallorossi stars appear on the list as Batistuta, Montella and Totti scored 20,13 and 13, respectively. Hernan Crespo playing for Roma rivals, Lazio, topped the charts with 26 goals followed by Milan Ukrainian star, Shevchenko who scored 24 goals.
The list also included many of Italy’s biggest stars: Chiesa (22), Vieri (18), Hübner (17) , Signori (16), Di Vaio (15) , in addition to Inzaghi, Lucarelli, Amoruso, Baggio and Ventola.
The list included continental talents like David Trezeguet, Pavel Nedved , Nuno Gomes, the Greek Vryzas, Savo Milosevic, Oliver Bierhoff who only scored 6 goals for Milan, Rui Costa , Zidane who scored the same number of goals in his final season in Italy and Romanian Adrian Mutu.
There were many South American stars on the list: Argentinians like Roberto Sosa, Julio Cruz, Uruguayans like Alvaro Recoba, Brazilians like Amoroso and Amaral and Chilean star Marcelo Salas.
African stars were also present in the shape of Sierra Leone 🇸🇱 striker Mohamed Kallon and Cameroonian, Patrick M’Boma.
Finally, that season acted like one of last collection of stars that included three different generations: the early 1990s stars like Baggio, Signori and Batistuta. The mid 1990s stars like Chiesa, Crespo , Vieri and Del Piero and finally the newest generation that emerged towards the end of the 1990s like Montella, Luca Toni and Trezeguet.
