We have lost so many beautiful souls to overdose, their dreams and lives cut short by this epidemic. As we grieve on this Black Balloon Day, we honor and uplift those no longer with us and the many loved ones left behind. They should be here.

Missing photographing Women's International Music Network's She Rocks Awards, living vicariously through the coverage. What a gift to honor and uplift so many incredible women each year. ✨ Some have since passed on. ❤️

This Indigenous Peoples' Day, we honor Indigenous/Native folks while naming that colonialism continues to disproportionately impact these communities today — particularly for those who use drugs. It's on all of us to learn from and support the empowerment of Indigenous/Native people, today and always.

Pride is more than a moment. The LGBTQIA+ liberation movement shows the power of radical love as resistance, and we - particularly looking at you, aspiring allies - are all called in to keep momentum going to reimagine and build a world where LGBTQIA+ people are safe and free to thrive.

The ways to prevent overdoses is not some big mystery. Decades of research and folks' lived experiences show that harm reduction not only keeps people alive, it also provides folks with the resources, support, and love needed to thrive. Supervised consumption sites ( ), syringe services programs ( ), and a range of other supports provided by harm reductionists - centering those most impacted by drug use - are proven ways to end the overdose epidemic.
