North East Texas Scanner is a social media incident alert system notifying North East Texas residents of breaking emergencies and inclement weather news. Main Counties we cover are Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, Camp, Upshur, and Wood Counties. Also you will see reports at times from other areas such as Rains, Lamar, Morris, Cass, and Bowie Counties. Please keep in mind that due to range we can pick up
with out scanners, that we may not be able to cover these other counties all the time. We are NOT affiliated with any media or Public Safety Organization.

How Northeast Texas Scanner works:
As called are sent out to various departments (Fire, Police, and EMS) we monitor until units arrive on scene. Once it is confirmed by a unit on scene, we will post the information to our page and Twitter feed. We post ONLY confirmed incidents and have even been mentioned on KLTV.com

Rules of our page:
1) DO NOT Post ANY names or specific information (age, date of birth, etc) of victims of incidents we post on this page. The post will be deleted and you could be banned from the page. Names are released by Law Enforcement when all notifications have been properly made. The last thing we want is for anyone to find out someone has been injured or worse through this page.
2) Keep it clean and civil. Vile/profane language or hate toward anyone will be deleted and you could be banned from the page. This isn't the place for politics either, or to speculate on what happened (this only adds to the confusion to include rumors. We only post confirmed information from our scanners as it is confirmed by units on scene.

Types of incidents you will see us post: Fires (grass fires and structure fires) gas leaks, Haz-Mat incidents
major police incidents (shootings, stabbings, police chases, foot pursuits, armed robbery, etc.) Major Accidents (only those with injuries, Helicopter, or entrapment, or road blockage or highway closure. We don't post minor accidents), drownings, major traumas (car vs. pedestrian, train vs pedestrian and others)
We don't post EMS calls unless they fall into the above categories. We also don't post any info about injuries or patient info, so don't ask. Anyone who does post this info needs to read rule #1.
