Chicks on Comics CHICKS ON COMICS is the feminist fuelled vehicle for an on-going dialogue between 5 female cartoonists across the globe.

Chicks On Comics

Is an international feminist group currently composed of five cartoonists from Argentina, Portugal and Singapure. Its members are: Ann Gee, Clara Lagos, Delius, Julia Barata and Pixin Weng (and up to 2014 this also included artists Lilli and Ulla Loge, until 2016 Julia Hommersham and Fabiane "Chiquinha" Langona, until 2017 Sole Otero, until 2018 Maartje Schalkx, until 2019 Joris

Bas and Powerpaola, and until 2020 Carochinaski and Zane Zlemeša). Since its beginnings the group has explored narrative and cartooning as a means of communication and exchange. Using the virtual platform tumblr chicksoncomics.tumblr.com (formerly the chicksoncomics.blogspot.com blog) the members regularly publish comic panels around a theme, each panel functioning as the answer to the panel posted previously, following an established order of appearance allows the production of thematic dialogues, publications and exhibitions. One of the discourses that unites the group is the constant irony about gender issues, a theme that suits comics perfectly. Although there are many women working in this discipline, they are still poorly visible. Chicks on Comics create comics and cooperate through social networks to give visibility to this cultural diversity and promote the exchange and dialogue between the disciplines related to the comic strip, its various audiences and players. Chicks On Comics Es un colectivo internacional integrado por cinco historietistas de Argentina, Portugal y Singapur. Sus integrantes son: Ann Gee, Clara Lagos, Delius, Júlia Barata y Pixin Weng (han colaborado en el proyecto hasta 2014 las artistas Lilli Loge y Ulla Loge; hasta 2016 Julia Hommersham y Fabiane "Chiquinha" Langona, hasta 2017 Sole Otero, hasta 2018 Maartje Schalkx, hasta 2019 Bas y Powerpaola, y hasta 2020 Carochinaski y Zane Zlemeša). Desde el comienzo el colectivo explora los recursos narrativos de la historieta como medio de comunicación e intercambio. Utilizando la plataforma virtual del tumblr chicksoncomics.tumblr.com (antes el blog chicksoncomics.blogspot.com) los integrantes publican regularmente viñetas de comic en torno a un tema, cada cuadrito publicado es la respuesta a uno anterior, se sigue un orden de aparición establecido y esto permite la producción de diálogos temáticos, publicaciones y exhibiciones. Uno de los discursos que une al grupo es la ironía constante sobre cuestiones de género, tema que lleva a las historietas como un sello. A pesar de que haya muchas mujeres trabajando en esta disciplina todavía siguen siendo poco visibles. Chicks on Comics crea historietas y coopera a través de las redes sociales para dar visibilidad a esta diversidad cultural y promover el intercambio y diálogo entre las disciplinas afines a la historieta, sus diversos públicos y actantes.
