Thank you to all the artists who have shared their work for our digital exhibition and publication on the theme of HANDS. We can’t wait to reveal your work from 1 April 2023. Every time I do a call for entry on a theme I am overwhelmed by how talented each of you are. Genuinely I did not even receive one image that I didn’t love and can’t wait to share each of the beautiful photographs with you.

Thank you to everyone who has been a part of ROCK and for those of you who have ordered your limited edition copy.

We have received the publication back from the printers and will be posting orders next week.

We are also honoured to announce that ROCK will be available for purchase at SERCHIA table in part of HAVE A BUTCHERS .a.butchers Art Fair this weekend. Please stop by their beautiful gallery in Dalston.

Even though I already posted circa five seconds ago, I wanted to share one final one for our takeover…

Dear Artist Field, hello this is Christine the curator from Valentine Editions and SERCHIA .
Abbey has kindly invited me to do a takeover via Artist Field this week on the theme of ROCK, which has been the muse of Valentine Edition's exhibition and publication for this year.

For my third and final post, I am sharing photographs from ROCK which have inspired one of our upcoming calls for entry for future exhibition and publication...Though you can probably guess the theme, please do follow Valentine Editions, as there will be many more calls for entry for 2023.

I am also sharing two of my personal photographs which I made with my friend, artist and filmmaker Jeanne Jo for her solo exhibition at SUMA in Utah.
Together, Jeanne and I created a film inspired by the Chris Marker film 'La Jetee' and was made almost entirely of stills, called 'The Castle'.

There are honestly thousands of artists, photographs, and exhibitions I could share. For those who are interested please do stay in touch. I'm always grateful to meet other artists and learn more about their ways of seeing.

Thank you all for your kind messages of support and interest, and special thanks to Abbey and Artist Field for being such exquisite hosts. It's been an extreme honour. Thanks very much again, Christine x

Sharing this work reminds me of the reason that I curate Valentine Editions: to share the perspective of others; to show that we all see the same things differently, uniquely.

Sharing these perspectives reveals what sets us apart the process of which brings us together.

When I first began VE, I used to curate in secret and set aside imagery to share.

When I began extending exhibitions to open calls, I was overwhelmed with the amount of talent that found it's way to every exhibition.

The artists featured here, I have loved getting to know photographically, and personally from watching their work evolve since first coming across it.

I thought for my first post, that I would share some of the photographs, which were the first I set aside that inspired this theme.

Wonderfully and unsurprisingly one of the very first was an image from Artist Field .

I like to look back at photographs from artists who are new to me and ones I’ve followed for years, and see if I can remember the first time I ever saw their photographs.

Some of these photographs are those, but others are ones which I couldn't stop thinking of and lead me to choose ROCK as this year’s collective digital exhibition and publication (in progress).
