The City of Belleview’s election qualifying period officially closed on Thursday, August 22, at 4 PM.
For the 2024 election, the Mayor and Commission Seats 2 and 4 were up for election. All three seats were unopposed, resulting in Christine Dobkowski remaining as Mayor, Ray Dwyer retaining Seat 2, and Robert "Bo" Smith continuing in Seat 4.
Belleview City Commission seat terms are for four years and are staggered, with elections held in even-numbered years. This year’s elections covered the Mayor’s Seat, along with Seats 2 and 4. The remaining seats, 1 and 3, will be up for election in 2026.
The current City of Belleview Commission is as follows: Seat 1, Michael Goldman; Seat 2, Ray Dwyer; Seat 3, Ronald Livsey; Seat 4, Robert "Bo" Smith; and Mayor Christine Dobkowski.
The Commission, which includes the Mayor, is responsible for determining the types and levels of services to be provided, as well as enacting laws, regulations, and policies that govern the City and its activities. The Commission oversees the City’s general operations, including approving the annual budget and subsequent amendments, managing inter-local, development, franchise, and miscellaneous agreements, and making all land use and zoning changes. Additionally, the Commission appoints the City Administrator, City Attorney, City Clerk, and members of various citizen boards and committees.
