34 children got a new living room to play with their toys in.

11 dogs have a new paradise of a backyard to run around in.

4 cats are climbing the freshly put-up Christmas tree (and probably breaking a few ornaments while they're at it).

21 moms are decorating their garlands in a new spot this year.

I absolutely love helping families turn houses into homes. I will never get over how emotional it can be to hand a set of keys to someone across the closing table and watch their smile grow larger.

Costco recently had to recall 80,000 pounds of butter. For what? It wasn’t because it got accidentally poisoned or some expiration date expired. It was because they missed adding a critical disclaimer, “this butter contains milk.” Of course, everyone should know that butter contains milk, but regulations call for listing it as a potential allergen.

One small detail missed meant real money for Costco. Sweating the small stuff matters, even when you’re a giant grocer.

Similarly, this is the same when you’re buying a home! Property details, potential pitfalls in a transaction, necessary repairs or improvements that can be made, details about a neighborhood or school district… the little things missed may cost you dearly later!

It might not be 40 tons of butter, but it's the largest financial transaction many have in their lives! That’s why I take my job as a Realtor here in West Indianapolis seriously. I go to bat for my clients and sweat the small stuff so you don’t have to.

Details matter. Double check the butter label. Get a Realtor you trust with the “small stuff." These are some good principles to live by.

When my kids were little, and I remember seeing gorgeous photos of Newfields Winterlights lighting up my social media feed. Each year, I’d get so disappointed because by the time I thought to check, tickets were already sold out. It looked so magical, and the FOMO was real!

Eventually, I figured out the secret: mark your calendar in October - yes, October! That is when tickets go on sale.

Now, we never miss it. Winterlights has become one of our favorite family traditions. As the kids get older and it gets harder to carve out family time, this event is one they still look forward to. It’s more than just lights; it’s a chance to slow down and soak in the season together.

Here are my tips if you want to go:
✨ Plan early. Set a reminder so you don’t miss tickets.
✨ Go early. We’ve found that a 5:30 PM entry lets us avoid big crowds, and it’s already dark enough for the lights to dazzle.
✨ Warm up first. Grab a hot drink as you enter—it’s part of the experience!

If you’ve never been, don’t wait another year. It’s a holiday tradition you’ll treasure forever!

Thankful to call Indiana HOME. "Home" isn't your curb appeal. Home isn't your quartz countertops or what interest rate you have on your mortgage. Home isn't your trendy interior design, or lack thereof.

Home is more than how many bedrooms or bathrooms you have, or whether or not the floor plan is a modern open concept.

Home… is those 8 miraculous Christmas mornings you have while your kids still believe in Santa.

Home… is the memories you make at Thanksgiving when your parents are still young enough to visit, and you're finally old enough to appreciate them.

Home is having a backyard all to yourself. Home is where you learned to throw a football, but stayed outside so long you caught a cold.

Home is knowing no matter what car you drive, no matter where you take vacations, and no matter how far away the kids and grandkids live, they'll always have a place to come… home.

Sometimes, I wish helping people buy and sell were like those Hallmark movies you see around Christmas time. Everything would be perfect and predictable.

There would be no uncertainty. You'd know there is always a happy ending. The homebuyer would have an 800 credit score. They’re moving from a big city to a charming small town. The home is vacant and there are no issues with moving deadlines. The buyer has plenty of savings, almost zero debt, and they're working in a high paying job that they love. The house is in perfect condition (and the inspection is so flawless the home inspector is finished in just 20 minutes). The seller's agent calls me a few days before closing, not panicked or angry... but simply to tell me they appreciate my hard work and love my haircut.

The loan officer rents one of those planes that spell messages in the sky with white smoke. The message they spell out above our office in the morning sky says CLEAR TO CLOSE SHELLY, WE LOVE YOU. As the plane flies away, a beautiful gift-wrapped box parachutes down to Earth and lands on my doorstep. I open it up, and it's a platter of fresh tacos. They're still warm! Wow, the loan officer really loves me. We close in less than a week and everyone is happy. The Colts win the Super Bowl.

Like Hallmark movies, this is completely unrealistic. Random things almost always go wrong. That's why you need an EXPERT real estate agent to guide you through the process.

Okay, I have a confession to make. I’ve heard a saying that the sign of “real” beauty is what someone looks like without makeup. Whether or not you believe that, it’s definitely not true with real estate. When you’re selling your home, staging matters….BIG TIME.

That’s why I spend way more money than other agents do on social media marketing and promoting my listings. To be honest, my commission check doesn’t change all that much if I sell a home for $10,000 or even $15,000 more. But, that extra ten grand makes a HUGE difference for the homeowner. That’s a lot of money!

And that’s the difference when you hire a Realtor who deeply cares about staging a house and aggressively marketing it (go ahead, check out how many video views my listings get compared to other agents).

I’ve always loved self-help books. My shelves are filled with books on improving my business, nurturing my mindset, finding inner peace, and strengthening relationships.

However, this book, written by Jerrid Sebesta, has ignited a spark in me like few others have. I recently had the privilege of hearing him speak at a mastermind event, which made the connection even more meaningful.

In the introduction, Jerrid writes:

“To the person yearning for more out of life…this book has found its way into your hands not by chance, but by design.”

I truly believe in “God moments”—those times when people, circumstances, and events align by design. It’s up to us to recognize these moments as the ingredients for creating something extraordinary in life.

This book has challenged me to be more intentional about spotting those moments, embracing them, and retraining my thoughts to focus on spiritual growth. It’s a powerful reminder to be open, aware, and purposeful in how I shape my journey.
