I stumbled across these images I created for t-shirts while living in Ensenada, over four years ago. They bring back a sense of nostalgia of a season that I wouldn't trade for much of anything... and yet, that was a season of great cost. So much of what life was like prior to our adventure to Mexico is gone, different, lost, changed, released.... all of the above. Things look so much different than I could have ever imagined - for the better in some ways, for the worse in others, and some are fully bitter sweet. While I fully believe God sent us to Mexico, I feel we were (... probably still are ...) a bit naïve.

But none the less, these two t-shirt worthy images represent a bit of truth that I still hold to be true.

It's been a while since we've sent out an update. What are we up to? Here's a whirlwind update!

There are a few things going on... first, we are making plans to be back in Ensenada for about two weeks in the early summer. We will be working with two different sponsoring churches, our home church Life Community, and Monument View Bible Church in Fruita. The two weeks are two back-to-back Homes of Hope house builds for families in need, along with other local ministry opportunities in the Ensenada area.

We are exploring the possibility of going back to San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic later in the year (maybe November). We hope to take a team this time, to build a Homes of Hope home, Dominican style! If you are interested in joining us for that trip, please let us know!

And the latest addition to our ministry line-up, I (Scott) have officially joined Forge America, a network of everyday missionaries who seek to mobilize the People of God to participate in the everyday mission of God. This connection has been several months in the making. As I go through the Missionary Formation Residency with Forge, we will begin to implement the knowledge and ideas in the Grand Junction area, as missionaries to the Grand Valley, and seeking to raise up more missionaries in the places where we already live, work, and play.

As always, we certainly appreciate your prayers and support! As we get a little further down the road, and things begin to take clearer shape, we'll send out a more thorough update!

We arrived safely in Punta Cana last night, after about 30 hours of driving, flying, and chilling in airports. Catching up on some rest today. Had a quick walk to the beach. And now, rain. A warm, refreshing rain. More rain in an hour than we've seen in Colorado in months.

It's suddenly real!

We have been praying about going to the Dominican Republic for about ten months. Suddenly, it's a real thing!

In about 10 days, we leave to spend two weeks in San Pedro de Macoris, on the south side of the island. We will be working with YWAM San Pedro as Mission Builders - volunteers that help out with various parts of the ministry and mission of the base.

We hope to be able to be a part of a Homes of Hope build - building a home for an impoverished family in the city. Their builds are much like in Baja, but designed for tropical humidity rather than the desert coast.

A quick update on our upcoming Homes of Hope trip to Ensenada! We are excited to go build a home for this young family and have other ministry projects that we are going to be doing, as well. Mexico is on our minds!

We leave in a couple weeks for Ensenada! We will be there for almost a week, building homes, serving at a community church, and a women and children's shelter.

We have been very blessed along the way, preparing for this trip. We are traveling with Life Community Church, and people from several other area churches - many of whom have never been on a trip like this before. I (Scott) love walking with first-time missionaries on these trips.

Our time in Mexico in the past has set the stage for our next season of ministry. We're praying about some direction we feel God is giving us, and hope to share more on that soon. No details yet, but as a teaser, it's not in Mexico.
