For anyone interested to add to last nights stag, this is why i advocate only neck or head shoot if your 6 inches high or low generally a clean miss rather than a wounded animal.

Definitely a bullet wound at some point, bone was jagged and the brisket skin had a graze scar on the skin, must of been standing a way where the other leg was missed.

Shot placement is key always. To those who long rnge shoot i understand engine room is the ideal target but to anyone shooting under 200-250 meters head and neck ideally, dont say its impossible. Ive neck shot plenty with the 222 at that distance.

This fella i snuck into 25 meters though with the wind playing ball and put the 22 mag bullet at the base of the ear 🤙🤙

Finally some worthy blood for the big dog, 91lb boar today in the rain, was running the dogs about 12 hours ago and this fulla they would of been tracking he came out of the same area they tracked through late last night early this morning 🤙🤙

Have you ever thought about this?
In 100 years like in 2123 we will all be buried with our relatives and friends.
Strangers will live in our homes we fought so hard to build, and they will own everything we have today. All our possessions will be unknown and unborn, including the car we spent a fortune on, and will probably be scrap, preferably in the hands of an unknown collector.
Our descendants will hardly or hardly know who we were, nor will they remember us. How many of us know our grandfather's father?
After we die, we will be remembered for a few more years, then we are just a portrait on someone's bookshelf, and a few years later our history, photos and deeds disappear in history's oblivion. We won't even be memories.
If we paused one day to analyze these questions, perhaps we would understand how ignorant and weak the dream to achieve it all was.
If we could only think about this, surely our approaches, our thoughts would change, we would be different people.
Always having more, no time for what's really valuable in this life. I'd change all this to live and enjoy the walks I've never taken, these hugs I didn't give, these kisses for our children and our loved ones, these jokes we didn't have time for. Those would certainly be the most beautiful moments to remember, after all they would fill our lives with joy.
And we waste it day after day with greed, greed and intolerance.

New addition, meet Pearl, 14 months old now on a journey to go from lifestyle block pet to hunting dog, see how she will go on deer and goats etc, watch this space. Something ive been wanting to do for ages is train a deer dog and with the numbers of deer and goats around currently its perfect timing 👌👌

A day out hunting in the old stomping grounds tracking down a boar i suspect is the one who has got away a fair few times over the last couple of years.

Headed to top up the pig dump and run the dogs tonight, found marks of the boar that gave the dogs the slip a couple of months ago so he seems to be back then low and behold on the way out these 2 are walking in front of me, getting low on venison so the old 222 did the job again 2 neck shots no wasted meat, couldnt of got any easier. Bit of good luck finally after a bad run in the past month of s**t 🤙🤙
