My first solo trip was to NYC! I had been once before and wanted to take a few days to see everything that I missed the previous time, but with my carefully organized itinerary to follow. One trip and I was hooked 🙌🏼 Since then, I’ve traveled to France, England, Scotland, Ireland, Italy, Belize, Colombia, and more solo! Early morning strolling through the streets of Hoi An 👗

Do you always bring home souvenirs when you travel? Or are photos enough?

Honestly, I can never have enough souvenirs and often find myself running out of space in my luggage on the way home 😅 A few of my favorite keepsakes to collect:

🧲 Super cheesy fridge magnets (the cheesier the better)
🪡 Handmade pieces - articles of clothing, textiles, you name it
🌆 Postcards to hang on my fridge or to send to friends and family
🍬 Candy, snacks, or any kind of specialty food from that place
🫖 Ceramics and pieces I can use to decorate

Hoi An provided a great base for tons of experiences nearby! Here’s a few that we did that you should definitely add to your list ✍🏼

🚴🏽‍♀️ Biking through the stunning rice paddies
🌾 Learning farming techniques from a local family
🥥 Taking a spin in the infamous coconut boats
🍜 Trying a cooking class with regional recipes
👗 Getting clothes tailor-made from the original tailor shop in Hoi An
🏮 Creating your own custom lanterns to take home
🐟 Walking tour through the markets

The store fronts in Hoi An have my whole heart 💜

They’re typically decorated with gorgeous bougainvillea like the above or covered with intricate lanterns, or some combination of the two. And I can’t get enough! 🙌🏼

🏮The charming streets of Hoi An

I’ve been dreaming of this town since it first popped up on my insta feed and it was just as beautiful as I imagined! Lanterns everywhere you look and fantastic coffee shops along every street. The shopping here is a dream and if you don’t find what you’re looking for, you can have an outfit custom made in 24 hrs!

Absolutely loved Hoi An and will definitely be back one day 🇻🇳🫰🏼

📍Cat Cat Village

The name has nothing to do with actual cats (although we did see a few roaming around 🐱) but is this fairytale village built around this stunning waterfall. There’s no real historic element to this place, but more of a tourist attraction to celebrate a beautiful location. Just be ready to walk down hundreds of stairs to reach this photo spot 😅

When’s the best time to visit Ha Long Bay? 🛳️

🍂 September to November - the temperatures are much more bearable this time of year and you’ll often find clear, sunny skies throughout the coastal region of North Vietnam!

🌸 March to May - once again, temps aren’t too high yet and these months are much more dry than those of the summer. You’ll avoid the rainy season and should have some beautiful cruising weather!

☁️ December to February - we visited in February and as to be expected, there were mostly misty, cloudy skies over the bay. The winter season is nice if you don’t mind a bit of a chill in the air and fewer crowds.

☀️June to August - the stormy, summer months are also some of the most popular because students are off on their summer holidays and families can travel together. You may find cheaper prices during this time, but some cruises can be cancelled due to poor weather.

Rolling hills and rice terraces 🌾

This is exactly how I pictured Northern Vietnam and honestly these views far exceeded my expectations! The steep mountains and valleys below with a river cutting through give me Peru vibes? 🤔

I’m always reminded in moments like these how comforting it is to be surrounded by nature and its beauty 🌎❤️ I would love to explore this region of Vietnam more one day! And I’ll make the trip to Ninh Binh next time 🙌🏼

Walking on a dream ☁️✨

The towering hills covered in greenery here in the Lao Cai region remind me so much of (what I think) Peru looks like 🌱

It’s locations like these that make you feel so small in the best way - the Earth is so big and beautiful that exploring these types of places just makes me crave adventures all over the world! Even though certain landscapes may look familiar, the people that inhabitant those places are so so different and their cultures tell a unique story 📖

Where’s one place you’ve been that’s made you feel small (in a good way)? 🌏

Just spend the most incredible 10 days exploring Vietnam with and our second stop on the tour was Sa Pa ⛰️

Taking the overnight train to this region was definitely experience 😅 but a memorable one for sure! We arrived at our hotel early in the morning just after sunrise and I can’t describe how stunning the scenery was that day 😍 I fell in love with the endless rice terraces of Sa Pa and the absolutely gorgeous 360° views (despite the howling wind that comes through every so often) 🚞

We got lucky with the weather and had clear skies with beautiful, warm temps! Highly recommend a visit to this picturesque village

First impressions of Hanoi - organized chaos, beautiful greenery, stunning temples, and friendly people ❤️

Our first few days in Vietnam have been jam-packed with unique experiences like an authentic pho tasting, museum-hopping, and tuk tuk rides around the city 🛺

Looking forward to learning more about this country over the next week!

Xin chào from Vietnam! 🇻🇳

Not only is this my first time in the country, but also my first visit to Asia so this is a big trip for me! I’ll be exploring Vietnam with for the next 10 days and I couldn’t be more excited 🙌🏼 Bring on all the egg coffee, bánh mi, and pho 🍜

We’re staring off this trip in Hanoi and will be traveling south in the days to come. If you’ve visited Vietnam, leave your best tips below! And if not, I hope you’ll find some inspo for your next trip 😉
