Why is the first day of the Paschal Triduum called 'MAUNDY THURSDAY'?

Maundy comes from the Latin word "Mandatum" which means a "mandate" or a "commandment".

This day is named after Jesus' commandment to his disciples to love one another. Maundy Thursday demonstrates the importance of humility and service by remembering Jesus washing the feet of his disciples.

"Isang bagong utos ang ibinibigay Ko sa inyo: mag-ibigan kayo! Kung paanong iniibig Ko kayo, gayundin naman, mag-ibigan kayo." Juan 13:34

MAUNDY THURSDAY

Why is the Last Supper important in the Paschal Triduum?

The Last Supper is a foreshadowing of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. During the meal, Jesus broke bread and shared wine with His disciples- understood to be a prediction of Jesus' upcoming death and his sacrifice on the cross for the salvation of humanity.

We are praying for a safe and meaningful Maundy Thursday for all of us! 🙏

Congratulations to our ICON Student Journalists who emerged victorious in the recently held DISTRICT 10 SCHOOLS PRESS CONFERENCE last February 19, 2024!

Our ICON journalists will then advance to the upcoming DIVISION SCHOOLS PRESS CONFERENCE on February 29, 2024!

Additionally, The ICONS ranked as the Third Highest Overall Pointer for the Secondary Level of the said competition.

With the District Schools Press Conference (DSPC) just around the corner, the Central Board of Students extends our deepest support to our dedicated campus journalists in their upcoming competition, scheduled for February 19, 2024, at Mabolo Elementary School. This event will feature our hardworking and talented ICONS, who will be competing against other student journalists from District 10 across various categories.

The DSPC serves as a crucial stepping stone for our student journalists, as the top three winners in each category will earn the opportunity to advance to the Division Schools Press Conference.

Let's unite in showing our wholehearted support to our fellow ICONS, extending our best wishes for them to shine in showcasing their journalistic excellence. Good luck to our student journalists as they embark on this exciting journey!

Makikita sa larawan ang ating minamahal na punong-guro, Dr. Elisa P. Ballesteros na nagbibigay ng kaniyang mga mahahalagang bilin at paalala sa ating labingpitong (17) ICON student-journalists na sasabak sa nalalapit na District 10 Schools Press Conference sa Lunes, Pebrero 19, 2024 na gaganapin sa Mabolo Elementary School.

Kasama ng ating principal sa kaniyang maikling pagpupulong ang tagapayo ng The ICONS na si G. Christian F. Mendoza; Bb. Ana P. Baltazar, ang katuwang na tagapayo sa Filipino at Bb. Nicole Alliah Mercado, ang katuwang na tagapayo sa English.
