Get a GOOD Editor

As a writer, it’s hard to edit your own work. It’s EXTREMELY possible that you WILL miss obvious mistakes and problems. So, when you are finished writing, hand your work over to someone who is an objective reader; and (most importantly) a professional editor. A professional editor can check to see if you have grammatical errors or holes in your plot. And they can tell you how to improve your masterpiece! Writing is hard; you just have to keep working until you get it right!

Eliminate the Unnecessary Filler Words...

More often than not, writers dilute their writing with weak, filler words. These ‘fillers’ bring nothing to the table; and can bore your readers.

Some examples of filler words and phrases are: ‘like’, ‘you know?’, ‘totally’, ‘um’, ‘okay’. Just to name a few.

Spot these words and do what you must to eliminate them from your writing. As you eliminate these words, you’ll find that your content will sound better and better.

We all know what It’s like to have writer’s block. You stare at a blank page, which seems like forever, and nothing is coming...

We savvy writers have techniques and writing prompts to help stamp out writer’s block; techniques like checking social media for inspiration, taking walks, exercising, or playing music.

I’m sure that you write well; but, if you want to be a better writer, find a writer’s block technique that works for you.

If the answer is no, it’s time to simplify.

It doesn’t matter how amazingly profound your words and content may be. If you can’t clearly express your thoughts-- you might as well be writing in an ancient language.

Hooray, Hooray!! It's National Random Act of Kindness Day!! This is a day set aside each year to remind us to do something kind for someone else; without expecting something in return. You can do anything– buy a cup of coffee for a random person, help someone carry groceries to their car; something, ANYTHING that will show someone else a little extra kindness and grace. In today's world, it's even more important to show that there are still good people in this life.

It’s NEVER Too Late to Start Writing

So, you think that you’re too old? And you think that it’s too late to start a career in writing? Well, I hope that you don’t believe that! As long as you enjoy reading a GOOD book; as long as you enjoy writing, keep on pushing! You are NOT too old! If you google, “Writers who were considered old when they started”, you will find that sooo many of the BEST authors were well into their 30’s before writing that, ‘Great American Novel”.

All because someone started their writing career young, doesn’t mean that they’re good at it; and, it doesn’t diminish your chances. So go for it! You’ll never know until you try!
